LevelDasher Β Question: When you discovered Friendship is Magic, what did you think of it when you saw it for the first time?
Likewise, how did you get into writing fanfiction? Was it always something that you enjoyed?

Good question(s), actually.
When a friend I met on a train ride first tried to introduce FIM to me, she tried showing me a Sparta remix. My first reaction was "WTF is this $#!+??" A few weeks later at college, I had a weekend day where I had no work, roommates were gone, it was raining, and I basically had nothing better to do, so I gave the show another try.Β
[X] number of hours later binge-watching the first two seasons, I was hooked.
In terms of fanfiction, I wasn't really a big writer from the start, though I kind of had a bit of a writing bug when I was really little. I actually only tried fanfics myself after I read Connor Cogwork's On A Cross and Arrow. I thought I'd try my own hand at writing, and when I finished my first story (turned out to be about 40k words, amazingly enough), I started writing another one based on my experiences with cancer. That piece turned into a sort of coping mechanism, and I found myself writing (and eventually editing for others) much more. 4+ years later, I've now written 12 stories, including a 100k+ length story, a few one-shots, and a few poem-style stories, and am in the process of continuing a story that a friend put into my care. I may not have enjoyed fanfics from the get-go, but I sure as hell enjoy it now.Β

Hmm... interesting dilemma. I didn't have a problem with that when I signed up two years ago. Are you sure you haven't tried signing up for the site in the past? Did you try once and something went wrong so you tried again?

It was at least 1000 words long, right? That's the minimum requirement.
If you haven't gotten a PM saying that it was either denied or accepted, just wait a little longer. Sometimes it takes time for stories to be accepted. If you DID get denied, send me the link to the story and maybe I can see if there's something wrong with the way you laid it out (story description, tags, etc).

Yeah, he's one of the story approvers. If the story failed moderation then it won't be published. Did he give you a reason why? If not, send him a message back and ask. As far as I can tell (and remember from the storyβ I read it a while ago), you tagged everything properly. Don't worry about it, though. I had Through Crimson Eyes fail moderation the first time around, too. It happens.

Okay, I had a feeling it was one or both of those things. I couldn't see your short description since the story wasn't published, and you do have a number of grammar errors at first look. It certainly was related to MLP enough, so like SCB said, he just hit the wrong button on that one.
Tell you whatβ look me up on the website and follow me (Level Dasher). I'll give you a hand. I'm trying not to take more editing projects, but since this is your first story on FimFic, you'll want to make a good impression.

LevelDasher In reply to TheCaringStallion [2013-10-30 01:01:31 +0000 UTC]
I've been alright, thanks. ACD was a pretty good story. My advice, thoughβ grab an editor. As a teacher, I caught a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes. Sorry for being blunt, but it's a habit of mine. I'd offer to do it myself, but I'm editing for four other authors right now, and I have a lot of other stuff on my plate as well.
Keep writingβ practice makes perfect, and it never hurts to get a second eye.Β

OK, thanks for the advice and don't worry, you're not being blunt you're giving me helpful information and I like that. Writing stories isn't really my strong point, instead I like to draw but I'll try find an editor, if only I knew where to start looking.

Writing is an art, and all art requires practice.
If you go to fimfiction.com and make a profile (if you haven't already), there are plenty of people willing to edit. The community on that site is quite global and you can get input from tons of people.
