I know what you mean, it really is hard to not skip ahead sometimes. Nobody knows for sure but there definitely is a connection between Naruto and the Third Hokage. Personally, I believe that it is his father as well. I doubt he'd go sealing the kyubi into some random baby somehow. Yeah she really is like Dolly Parton rofl. That's what I enjoy about the series, they have so much to leave the fans guessing about. There are so many theories that I've heard, some bogus, some almost plausible.
