Aside from looking absolutely adorable, the embarrassment for a lady at them being exposed must have been enormous in those days.

Haha exactly they are adorable and it always make me smile that a lady was embarrassed to have them exposed considering they cover almost as much as a pants

And of course the size of those undergarments makes it impossible for the ladies to cover them, no matter how much hand-flapping they do.

On such occasions, I'm sure that the ladies regret all those fussy frills, bows, ribbons, etc.

It also makes me wonder what is the point of having such fancy underwear if it's to hide them (But I think the same question can be applied to modern underwear )

As is the case with elaborate Victorian stockings. I suppose that decorative undergarments were for the ladies' own private vanity, until they became unintentionally public.
Old Westerns seemed to have bloomer exposure on a most regular basis. Amazing how flimsy all those layers of skirts and petticoats were in those days.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Bio571 In reply to Henchies-and-hose [2020-05-09 06:34:11 +0000 UTC]

Haha yes

And when you think about it that's amazing how many layers of underwear they had we could even talk about under-underwear chemise, corset, bloomers, petticoat

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Henchies-and-hose In reply to Bio571 [2020-05-09 08:32:55 +0000 UTC]

Sometimes several layers of petticoats... not to mention the stockings, the garters, perhaps a bustle or a crinoline too. Considering how long it must have taken them to get dressed, it's remarkable how rapidly the exposure of their fancy drawers could be.

Lol exactly! I can't imagine how much time they spend dressing up but I sure know that the "dressing down" is much much faster

Oh, those are actually tough to find but my fav would be anything involving Jane Porter, this girl is so freaking lovely
Unfortunately most "mature" artwork replaced her bloomers and corset by modern bra and panties (very very stupid and inaccurate decision in my opinion) but some are still doing it properly you can see in my gallery some commissionned pics of her with her bloomers exposed, and more will come

A good example! I have noticed that Disney cartoons seem to feature a number of incidents of exposed bloomers.
I have noticed that a lot of artists replace old-fashioned undergarments with more modern ones but like you, I prefer to see these damsels in their authentic unmentionables. It seems to add to their profound embarrassment as they make a withering retreat.
For example, there is Una Merkel's cringing flight after her catfight with Marlene Dietrich in Destry Rides Again. Her realisation of her exposure is at 33.40...
www.dailymotion.com/video/x2cp…
I'd also suggest this scene from Little House On The Prairie...
youtu.be/svbrq6wMGAg
Bad enough to be stripped to her underwear in a very public environment in front of boyfriend by her rival, but considering the modesty of the time period, it must have excruciatingly embarrassing for her.

Those are great ones!

I have one from the video game The Witcher

www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJeQK1…

It happens around 12:15, it's not really EUF but the lady rip her skirt off to be able to ride a horse, exposing her fancy bloomers

Unfortunately it's the only case a lady wear bloomers in the game, we see ladies underwear often but they all are some kind of modern panties, what a shame I've been looking for a mod to correct that, but didn't found any

I believe that this voluntary type of exposure is known as an Action Dress Strip in the trade. A very nice view of the seat of her under-drawers as she mounts her horse!
As we've moved to the realm of fairy-tales, I thought you might enjoy this example from the Czech movie Honza MΓ‘lem KrΓ‘lem where an uppity princess has her skirts hoisted before receiving a very sound spanking to the seat of her polka-dot bloomers by the hero. The scene begins at 1:20:10...
czechrepublictrends.web.tv/vid…
Interestingly the actor playing the hero was new to acting and neglected to hold back on her chastisement. Even worse for the poor actress, the scene had to be reshot from several different angles due to the shortage of cameras...
www.google.com/amp/s/mainstrea…
This probably explains her extremely vigorous leg-kicking.

Hahah a very interesting scene indeed

And the article is amazing with all those photos

I love the phrase in the article "who can forget those rich girl’s polka-dot bloomers?"

And also another interesting thing "Jorga’s modern bikini panties can be seen underneath!"

Considering the time period I don't think the ladies were wearing bloomers, and certainely not printed ones, so it's a very nice artistic choice here

It's also makes me think about an interesting thing in Pirate of Caribbeans, the first one, when Jack and Elizabeth are left on the island, Elizabeth take off her dress before jumping in the water, and when they get on the beach, her dress is clinging to her body and very slightly see through, and we can see she's wearing modern underwear, not bloomers it's even more shocking because at the begining of the movie, when Jack removes her corset after saving her from drawning, we can clearly see that she's not wearing a bra underneath her dress because her nipples are visible, certainely to make the scene more accurate, so why paying attention to that detail in this scene and not give her bloomers to wear instead of modern panties later in the movie :/

I believe we kinda have the same scene in the last Pirate of Caribbeans movie, the lady is also removing her dress before jumping in water, but I don't remember if her underwear are accurate or not

Anyway, if you have other scene like this I would gladly see them

Quite true! Bloomers wouldn't be worn in the period of the Czech film, but as it's a fairy story, many of which were collected, published and popularised in the Nineteenth Century, I think it's allowable. It also adds a wonderfully comic touch to her humiliation.
Bloomers, or more accurately drawers, didn't become common for ladies until the early 1800s so for the Pirates of the Caribbean series to be accurate, it would have required a lot of bravery on the part of the actresses.

Absolutely, I'm not complaining, it's perfect

Oh my, you're right I just checked the time period, and I thought it was more recent but it actually takes place around the 1700s which mean she probably would had to me butt naked under her dress How indecent

One can imagine Kiera Knightley's reaction at such a prospect...
"The hell with artistic authenticity! Either get me my agent or get me some underwear!"

But what is disturbing me is imaginating when they were filming the scene, like the realisator will see that her modern panties are completely noticiable and say "alright, let's keep this scene"

Same for her nipple at the begining of the movie, I'm surprised that they kept the scene knowing that her nipple is completely visible through her soaked white dress, I'm not complaining though

They may have decided on a compromise after several options had been tried, including bloomers and a chemise which although they provide generous coverage, have a rather translucent quality when wet.

Love the illustrations of the upside-down cyclists lying in the ditches with their bloomered rears on show and their feet kicking in the air! Sarah Miles was certainly a good sport in that film with authentic underwear to match her authentic outfits and those magnificent authentic aeroplanes.

And I love those 60-70's movies, maybe to 80's, exposing ladies unmentionables was rather common in those, we don't see such things anymore in our days

Love the pics of the unfortunate ladies dangling with the balloon anchors lodged in their bloomers!
As in the old westerns, they had much more embarrassed, exposed ladies a few decades ago in the movies. Nowadays it's either considered to not be politically correct, or if the ladies are exposed, they tend not to be bothered by it.
Here's another page from the blog for you with a lot of upturned bloomered bottoms and kicking stockinged-legs...
