Indeed. My favourites are the raptors but I'm starting to look more at the herbivores these days. I really must spend some more time in the desert.

You mean song birds and such? Some are more insectivores, I think. Or water fowl? One of my favourite birds is the Carnaby's Cockatoo. They eat the seeds out of pine cones (as well as native veg), but very occasionally they eat grubs. I saw a flock out in force yesterday.

Yea that be the ones. As I usually gravitate toward falcons I generally think of non predator species as snack birds (the New Zealand falcon will take on geese and win), but I'm starting to find there is a whole lot of life to be captured in the more gentle avians.
