Meh, got through with a bad week but I like to think next week will go well especially since Thanksgiving break is around the corner. There was one bright side though, a friend of mine asked me if I did requests wanting me to draw one of his characters. This news pleases me because it means that people like my work enough to ask for it. I figure by taking requests I can work my way up to eventually asking for commissions. I've posted some pieces recently if you're interested. Say how's the art stuff with you these days?

For me, classes start January 11 at Illinois State University. But I will be moving down to an apartment near campus basically right after New Year's because before classes I have a week of mandatory training for my TA position. I'm in the Conservation Biology MS program.

Would it be alright with you if I used the sketches you made of Errad? I wanted to use the deviation as a cover for the prologue featuring Errad.

Thank you. I was planning on using it as the cover for the prologue, which is the only part I'm planning to post. Thanks to the illustration of Errad, my brain's inactive idea factory has suddenly been spewing out ideas like a fire hose. The current story of some 127,000 words will be mostly scrapped, but some elements will remain and others altered.

Pretty good, though I haven't been very active on dA because of looking for a job/grad school.

Meh. I've got a test and homework this week plus career fair coming up. Sometimes I wonder if I'm wasting my time going to those since none of them have netted me a position but I should still go anyway. At least I finally got a job helping teachers at help sessions for students so hopefully that'll be the experience some of the companies are looking for. How goes your search?

I did get accepted to a couple grad schools, and if I decide to start it would be Spring 2016. Whether I even can depends on if I can get an assistantship with the tuition waived. That's my plan A.
In the meantime I'm just getting involved with local conservation organizations to network and search for job opportunities as backup. I got my first paycheck from a one-day event with our church's bookseller when they were shorthanded but other than that still looking for work.

Good plan. I'm hoping to try to find a job right out of school and then maybe come back for a Masters or PhD a few years later, especially if I can find a company who will flip the bill for me. If I can't find anything for awhile after graduating I may just go straight to grad school. What sort of work are you planning on doing?

I want to go into conservation. Something along the lines of field research. If I could get a gig working with wild animals and also applying that research to educate people outside the field that would be killer.
Most likely, I will have to work several years to get to that place, though.

Sounds like a good career choice. I'm going into chemical engineering. I was considering medicine but the chemical route gives me so much more leeway to solve the problems of the world with.
