I was thinking about her also being a part of the military but with an elite group of some sort and she's also captured because of her high rank in the military... That's the only thing I can think of at the moment.
Anyway, once they return to the US, she doesn't appear until the Fireman's Charity thing or whatever that event was that Tony attended. She's there, he made another suit for her, they go and blow up stuff blah blah blah love blah blah blah.
