Thanks He was originally going to have vampire teeth, but I had thought better of it. Then when Halloween came up, it only seemed right that he should transform ^^

Hi there

I've been keeping somewhat busy, almost all the family has a cold right now, so it's making things unexpectedly busy this week. Artw-ise, I've not been able to make much of anything this month, but I plan to soon, and I'll likely be doing inktober as well ^^

You're welcome

Things are going alright, been sorting through projects, I think I've got too many of them lol.
How's your day going?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RachBurns In reply to JCoolArts [2018-08-30 22:39:22 +0000 UTC]

Projects are meant to be collected to burn through on a rainy day. ...or any day that you're just not wasting. (As I'm guilty of the past little while! @@) So you're doing perfectly on that end.

My day's going pretty well, thanks! Working my way through a couple of projects myself, I get so far on a single one then swap to the other for a bit.
I'm just surprised that I'm flying through both of them in comparison to when I'm working on a single one! XD Do you have this kind of situation with yours?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JCoolArts In reply to RachBurns [2018-08-30 22:51:13 +0000 UTC]

Guilty of that as well. I think the build up of stuff to do freezes me a bit as I'm stuck on deciding which to tackle.

Glad to hear it's going well and productive ^^
I tend to get halfway through a project, and then add another one to the list, get halfway on it, and repeat that a few too many times lol
Are yours art projects?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RachBurns In reply to JCoolArts [2018-08-30 22:57:30 +0000 UTC]

Same! It's so hard to control myself to one or two projects instead of a dozen. In that case, it's good if 2 out of 5 get finished within the next 7 months.

Yeah, so far they have been. Every new piece is a new project that needs its own study and everything from the first step and up. ...it also helps when I choose to go back to a piece after "finishing" it, since I know which step needs corrected if I've found them. I'd love to bury myself in all the artwork.

May I ask what you're working on? I'm messing with two right this second (like I said): Paprika image study  and Bedroom layout

JCoolArts In reply to RachBurns [2018-09-01 01:57:30 +0000 UTC]

Thanks

I'm working on a speed paint landscape of a fantasy desert/Sedona red rock area. Working on learning my way around new forum cms', I've cut all the wood I need to make myself an easel equivalent to the ones they have at community college, but I'm waiting on the money to buy the hardware before I start drilling holes/assembling, I've got a piece of art to make for a Christmas present, another piece already made that I've got to find a 23x17 inch frame for so I can enter it into the fair, and I've got to think up a word list for inktober that I'll be confident with as a backup in case I don't like the official prompt list.

Eventually, some of this will get done XD

Those are nice pieces, looks like you're not too far from getting them worked out and handled.

RachBurns In reply to JCoolArts [2018-09-01 02:27:23 +0000 UTC]

Is it difficult to make these easels and stretching the canvases? I've heard of people making and stretching their own but this is the first I've actually heard it described.
I bet all of these that you're describing are going to turn out lovely though!
And inktober...it's always nice to see what people can do with ink!

Not too far! I'm looking forward to getting the Paprika study completed (tutor only wants the lines completed right now), I only need to get my butt to work on that fellow on the left. He shouldn't be that difficult once I finally get pen to tablet.

JCoolArts In reply to RachBurns [2018-09-03 02:34:59 +0000 UTC]

I've never yet stretched a canvas myself. My dad and uncle say they know how though, I think I'll ask them eventually.
The easel is mostly wood work, not too hard to make It might look a little like this > i5.walmartimages.com/asr/b948d… but 7ft tall ^^

Are you taking a class for art?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RachBurns In reply to JCoolArts [2018-09-03 02:53:10 +0000 UTC]

Ah, that's exactly what I thought of when you said 'easel'. Interesting! Is it easy enough to make them do what you need of a good easel? ...and a silly question now: Is it cheaper than buying them from a store, in the long run?

Not exactly a class, though I remember my time in a community college's art classes with fondness. I met someone on this site a few months ago and he is teaching me how to draw the characters and things that I want to draw without having to rely on Clip Studio's mannequins. So far it's been great! And it's not been having to rely on grants. (I still pay him for his time, of course, but it's something I can handle? Not like how expensive the college was getting.)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JCoolArts In reply to RachBurns [2018-09-06 05:49:01 +0000 UTC]

Well, a tall easel will let me more easily draw while standing up. Currently I'm using bungee cords to hold down my small table top easel, cause it wants to fall backwards when I put alot of force on it. I can't find the one I want in stores so far.

College is pretty expensive, that why I didn't finish. 300+ per 3 credits is still more than could be afforded.
I'm glad you're still being able to learn and grow

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RachBurns In reply to JCoolArts [2018-09-06 05:58:52 +0000 UTC]

Are the bungee cords holding the easel stable enough? I hope you don't have to work with the hard way for too much longer! ...though it makes getting the proper thing that much sweeter. XD

Everyone can tell the tale of college, I think. It's like it's not made for people like us, without dozens of thousands in the bank. Which is just going to be the colleges' problem eventually when people decide to force them to work with us!
And my tutor was really kind, we met on deviantart chat and had something worked out very quickly. ...he's even willing to teach me for an affordable price per month. (20-30 a month? Many thanks to him!) Why can't most things work out so nicely?
