Thought I'd do a new pic with my Nephew, who I saw a few weeks ago! :D He's nearly one now and I hadn't seen him since January as he emigrated to the USA (With my brother and his wife....he didn't go by himself :P...)...dawww! :)

I'm 34 (yeh I know :( ) and started drawing in March 2011 after 20 years of ignoring art..(I'm more a scientist). :) I took redundancy from my job, so took up pencilling to give me a new hobby while looking for work :)

It's been a great journey so far and I've had tons of help from the great community here on DA, so long may it continue! :D

Maybe at the end of the year I'll do a new picture, as I'm trying to lose a bit more weight finally :) I lost nearly 4 stone (Err... or about 24kg or about 53 lbs for those who don't use stone :P) last year, so wouldn't mind just another stone or so...bah back to the gym :(

Enough mumbling...I have drawing to do :)

You are more than welcome! :) (Smile) Your work looks great, don't do yourself down. For my scanner I do exactly the same thing in Gimp for all my drawings.

Step 1: Go to Colours --> Curves and move the line 1 square left and 2 to 3 squares down (around 2.5 seems to work along that line).
Step 2: Go to Brightness/contrast and add 10 points to brightness and about 7 to contrast.
Step 3: Crop image and then go to 'Scale Image' to get the pixels to a manageable level.

Done! :D (Big Grin)

Nice work. Like you, I haven't drawn in sometime and I'm thinking of picking it back up again. I'm not up to your level (a little rusty) but I'm probably not too far behind. I'm color blind and have trouble with colors so I stick to pen and ink and pencil. I'm new to deviant as of today and was wondering is it worth the time?

It's worth the time :) (Smile) It's only a small outlay at the start for some pencils and paper heh. It's just then a matter of time :D (Big Grin) It's never not worthwhile, so give it a try

Thanks, I definitely will! :) (Smile) On the subject of your photography, you should go for it! I can't really critique much as I have no real clue about photography, but I saw one of your pictures and liked it, so took a look at the rest. The composition is fun and the focus and lighting all seem to work well to my untrained eye, so I love them! :) (Smile) Subjects close to my heart hehe. If I like them, you can be sure others will too. As with anything, there will be some people you can't please, but that's life. Just keep doing what you love and don't stop! ;) (Wink)

And for me its the opposite, i havent really done human portraits, except for a few and that has been a pain! The fur just takes some patience hehe.

Yeh do have next project to start...have printed my references...just looking to pick up a board of some kind big enough to rest an A3 sheet on. My dining table has grooves in it, so won't work hehe. I had something big enough for A4...but not A3 size. Apologies if you're not up to speed on the British paper sizes but A3 is bigger than A4 :D (Big Grin) (Yeh I don't know why either :P (Lick) )
