DOF (Depth of Field) is het scherptegebied in de foto simpel gezegd. Kleine DOF is weinig scherp, grote DOF is veel scherp. Met een kleine DOF is het heel precies nadenken over wat je scherp wil hebben.
Dus als je een object wilt fotografeeren waarbij een drukke achtegrond is en je wilt toch dat alle aandacht op het object komt kan je gebruikt maken van kleine DOF.
