Your signature makes my head explode...because I say that ALL the time. Seriously. I say it in my classes. I think I may be in love.

LVSkoglund In reply to veinsrunempty [2009-03-01 17:59:25 +0000 UTC]

Omg, I've never talked to someone who's gotten it before
I lovelovelove that that quote. And the way that Norton says in in the movie:
"I'm Jack's complete lack of surprise." Like he really couldn't care less

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

veinsrunempty In reply to LVSkoglund [2009-03-01 18:34:27 +0000 UTC]

I love the way Norton said it!!! It was SO perfect, seriously.

Palahniuk likes doing that a lot in his books, in "Invisible Monster" it was cool, over and over, it was like a photographer saying "Give me sexy. Flash Give me passion." and the give me blank got crazier and made less sense as the book went on. I love it, actually, I think it's a genius tool.

So do you love the rest of Fight Club too?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LVSkoglund In reply to veinsrunempty [2009-03-01 18:36:34 +0000 UTC]

I haven't read that book, but I'll defiantly have to!
Oh, I love Fight Club! It's one of my absolute fave movies.
I'm in the middle of the book as well, and so far I love it!

veinsrunempty In reply to LVSkoglund [2009-03-01 18:44:25 +0000 UTC]

It's impressive how close the movie got to the book. The biggest change is actually order rather than content, which is so rare.

And you should read Survivor. It's my favorite from him.

LVSkoglund In reply to veinsrunempty [2009-03-01 23:42:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I agree. And the nude beach of course. To bad they didn't go for that though.
Wouldn't mind me some nakked Norton

Oh, I love getting tips on what books to read, thank you

LVSkoglund In reply to veinsrunempty [2009-03-02 06:13:01 +0000 UTC]

Oh, believe me, I get what you're sayin'. I've just always had a thang for Norton, after seeing him all buff (and eventually nice) in American History X Though the fact that he looks so thin and pale, is a big part of the Narrator

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

veinsrunempty In reply to LVSkoglund [2009-03-02 07:28:20 +0000 UTC]

I disliked American History X....not for any particular reason, it just didn't stand up to a second viewing for me.

LVSkoglund In reply to veinsrunempty [2009-03-02 11:54:04 +0000 UTC]

Really? I love that movie. Not by any means a movie that gives you a good feeling after you've watched it, but still

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

veinsrunempty In reply to LVSkoglund [2009-03-02 15:34:31 +0000 UTC]

I dunno, the second time I watched it and the shock factor was gone, I was just kind of bored with it. Ah well.

Do you like Pulp Fiction?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LVSkoglund In reply to veinsrunempty [2009-03-02 19:24:16 +0000 UTC]

I love Pulp Fiction! It's the kinda of film where I sometimes think to myself "do I really like it, or do I just think I like it, seeing as it's a cult-film and all that jazz?"
But then I watch it, and I really enjoy myself

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

veinsrunempty In reply to LVSkoglund [2009-03-02 19:36:45 +0000 UTC]

I agree. I'm the same way with Donnie Darko. It's just fun to watch.

LVSkoglund In reply to veinsrunempty [2009-03-02 20:47:45 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I've got in on DVD. A very good movie in my opinion, but not a movie you wan tto watch too often

veinsrunempty In reply to LVSkoglund [2009-03-02 21:10:34 +0000 UTC]

Never heard of, actually. What's it about?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

veinsrunempty In reply to LVSkoglund [2009-03-02 21:59:35 +0000 UTC]

It's about this serial killer/hit man. And it's just super brutal and noir. Black and white. Cinema verite.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LVSkoglund In reply to veinsrunempty [2009-03-02 22:01:57 +0000 UTC]

Hm, sound interesting...Might have to check it out some time
So, what other movies do you like?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

veinsrunempty In reply to LVSkoglund [2009-03-02 22:46:11 +0000 UTC]

Well, I like pretty much all of Kurosawa's movies. Teshigahara's "Woman in the Dunes" and "Face of Another" are super amazing.

I like horror movies a lot. Me and one of my friends are really into shot-on-video super-crap z-grade ones right now. They're really hit or miss, but when they hit, it is SO funny.

Indie stuff in general pleases me, but I also watch a fair amount of mainstream too.

Oh, and anime. Saikano is mind-blowing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LVSkoglund In reply to veinsrunempty [2009-03-02 23:23:39 +0000 UTC]

Wow, a lot of stuff I haven't heard of before. I really like horror-movies as well, but they only work once or twice, after that it kinda looses the surprise momentum that such movies rely on.

I suppose my taste is quite eclectic, but I usually buy DVDs, and that's the way I "discover" new movies, so it's not always easy to find something indie or not-mainstream. But I'm always open to finding new movies

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

veinsrunempty In reply to LVSkoglund [2009-03-02 23:37:40 +0000 UTC]

I either buy my DVDs, or if I'm just not sold on something, I'll add it to my Netflix.

I rarely watch american horror films, mainly, because there's no such thing. It's all recycled now. Either from Japan or Europe. The closest thing to an American horror movie that I like (and I claim it is A-horror) is Midnight Meat Train which is barely american. Japanese director, based on a story by a gay french dude, but the cast is American so it passes lol. But J-horror is kind of my thing! It still chills me to watch the original Ringu. Marebito isn't horror, but it's in my top ten. If you want to like it, watch it twice, and you'll probably fall utterly in love.

Let's see...Tokyo Rampage is super, super awesome if you can find a copy....has this really awesome scene in it, actually like a dozen awesome scenes, and I have no idea what genre it is but it's mind-blowingly amazing.

I could talk about movies forever!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LVSkoglund In reply to veinsrunempty [2009-03-03 00:11:02 +0000 UTC]

I completely agree, basically everything horror is based on a Japanese movie! But that's the trend in Hollywood these days, not just in the horror genre, but overall.

I like the original The Ring, got it on DVD I might have to check out Midnight Meat Train just because of the title!

Have you seen the Orphanage? I just love that movie!

ah, I do indeed have the Orphanage. Guillermo del Torro is sooooo good. Pan's Labyrinth is also good!

Yes, absolutely! They're both so beautiful, the story and the visuals
