# About me

I have been cosplaying/modeling/sketching for 8 years .. most of it has been small projects and such. my first and favorite Zelda game was “Twilight Princess.” i am also an illustrator and general craft-oriented person who has a special place in my heart for DC Comics’ “Harley Quinn” character originating from the Batman storylines. I lovE nature and animals and especially reptiles (snakes) and rodents. She is also an avid anime and video game fan in general and enjoys “Call of Duty”, “World of Warcraft” and the Arkham City series of games. I am a pure shutter bug and you can find me taking pictures all the time, modeling everything from cosplays, to electronic ears, to my latest sword purchase. My guilty pleasure is watching My Little Pony!!

Hhmmm ... youtube tutorials are handy. Learned a few things there myself. Otherwise, just make sure to learn all your basics thoroughly first (proportion, perspective, rendering values, colour theory, etc.) - it's much easier to build on that knowledge than it is to slot them in later. Better to avoid bad habits than to have to unlearn them in the future (which is what I have to do - I have *so many* bad habits!).

Other than that, just practise, practise, practise. The more you do, the better you'll get!

You really want me to point out all my bad habits? ^_^ Actually, I just got home from my crappy day-job and am a bit tired, so ask me again if you really want to know. But I'll compromise - I'll explain why our opinions of my work differ so much, and it's actually a good thing.

See, our different perspectives actually come from pretty much the exact same viewpoint, just at different stages. When you look at my work you see someone doing stuff you can't do yet, but I can do that stuff, so it's the other stuff I *can't* do that I see in my stuff. There are plenty of artists I look up to who can do stuff that I can't, so with their work I feel just the same as you do looking at my gallery. And I'm sure all those artists have others they look up to too. That's the thing about art - if you're really into doing your stuff, and always really trying to get better, you'll probably end up wanting to be better at LOADS of different things. It's neverending, and it's all good!

^_^

If you want more tips in future, feel free to drop me a note once in a while with any questions. It's a long road you've gotten on, but so worth it!

I did a kinda crappy 1-year art & design class after I left school, but they weren't the least bit interested in illustration (it was either design or fine art - nothing in between), so I didn't really learn much of use, and absolutely nothing about digital art (this was about 15 years ago, so digital art wasn't really much of an issue back then). Most of what I've learned about illustration has been just down to brute stubbornness - I always try to do everything as well as I can, and I'm never satisfied that the last thing I did was good enough, so I keep trying to add to my techniques whenever I can. I have learned a few things recently thanks to being able to spend some time regularly with some other talented folks, but I've shown them stuff too, and probably learned at least as much from tutorials here & on youtube. I think the important thing is that you have to really *try* to get better - the more you try, the better you'll get.
