Lol XD You wouldnt start a Balljoint out of plastic. Paperclay maybe. but I dont have the funds to even replace the art supplies I use on a daily basis. So any Doll-making is on hold

at the moment lol I am unemployed. >> There is nothing around me hiring I've been looking for going on 2 years and it really sucks. The Only income I get is from painting dolls from time to time ( which is rare ) and from doing Commission drawings.

Well my friend, I know how it goes. Unfortunately that's why my day job isn't art related, but I would love to work for the industry. My pal always say money is out there, just depends on how flexible we are. So I guess it depends on what you are willing to do.

All my buddies keeps on telling me I should sell the stuff I make, but if I convert the amount of time and material I invest in my work into hourly wage, there's no way anyone would be able to afford the stuff lol.

Lol I can't find a job art related or otherwise. I'd Take a job mopping floors/washing dishes/cleaning bathrooms ANYTHING if It'd give me a paycheck. My area just has nothing. Trust me I'm not looking only in art XD.

And I've got the same problem commission wise I end up using more than most would be able to afford but I usually Just do a stanard price.

I've been applying for jobs for about 19+ months and I can't get one. Sadly I know I am not the only one in this situation for our Area.
Upstate New York. 2hrs+/- from NYC by Train.. and it's not really worth commuting unless you have a REALLY good paying job.

i wouldnt say the economy is doing well anywhere, Job hunting isnt a problem if you're closer to the city.. but Upstate where I am it is difficult. And the Population to my area isnt that bad.I can only keep pluggin away at applications everywhere and work on that and hope I get a bite yanno? D: at least that way I dont feel lazy if I am attempting.

I would move if my mother didnt need my help so badly >>; She's the only nice one in my family and I'm all she's got since the rest of the family is rude and thinks only about themselves and has only ever given us headaches... My mum isn't well and I help keep the house running. i take care of cooking yardwork etc.. Plus the college I am in is pretty close. I eventually would love to move to Australia, but lol I'd need money to even do that or even to move down the road, which i dont have. It all cycles back to not having a job >< XD

Tough stuff, at least you are taking responsibility for your life. It's a good attitude to have. What are you studying at school? I hope is something which will eventually make you some cash instead of useless crap like fine arts lol.

Well it's a multiple major. Fine arts but I'm also taking Education and Psych so I can look into being an Art therapist.

Yeah, there is always the education route, at least it's steady pay. Tough work though. I thought of becoming a teach once, then realized there's no way I can deal with crazy young 'un(s) all day long.

Oh well, don't rush yourself, maybe that isn't even what you want to do you know? I can't speak for you, but I'd choose art as a career because that's what I'm really good at, not because I'd enjoy doing it 24-7. If I had a choice, what I'd do is get a career I'd enjoy and have art as my hobby, this way I'll live a stress free life. The problem just like everyone else, is I can't quite figure out what I want to do yet.
