well i actually suck at doing backgrounds, lol!! as you can see. but it's really best to do an elaborate background BEFORE you actually work on coloring your character. just leave the lineart up of the character and draw your background...color the person after you're done. basically all the backgrounds i do are made with different photoshop brushes i have. i usually make mine after i color the character though. that is because they are extremely quick and really have no thought put into them, lol!
