# About me

Notes:
This account is not spoiler-free. Please be cautious if you're looking through fanwork for any of the series I post here.
Sadly, because I work pretty unpredictable shifts in my current job I'm not around very much to reply to messages any more. So I apologise if it takes me a while to get back to you. I appreciate feedback and do always try to get back to everyone as soon as I can though. <3
I am happy for my work to be featured in most groups that ask. However I do NOT want my work to be featured in anti groups (i.e. groups against a certain character, series or pairing) or groups that have anti-homosexuality rules. So if your group has a "NO YAOI/YURI" notice in regards to all posting of queer ships, then I probably won't let my work be featured there. Thank you for understanding.
Please ask before taking any of my work to post on other websites. This includes for use on Tumblr. I have my own account there and would prefer to post my work myself. If there's anything here that you particularly want me to post on Tumblr then let me know and I will, since most of my older stuff isn't posted there.

I'm not sure which one I want to laugh at more, but they're both very accurate looks into the daily lives of our eco-nerds. 8))

Awww, I like that! The two of them should be friends, as the only sensible people involved.

Yes, they can talk about sensible things like the ex-Devon science bros that they are. Β Annnnnnd also terrify everyone because they both lose their tempers quickly XD

To make matters worse, they had plenty of chances where Maxie and Archie were off in a cave together and this easily trappable.

The only reason to do a Sun/Moon remake. Β Look how happy Archie is! Β He loves Alola AND he feels pretty! Β XDDD
π: 0 β©: 1
SamCyberCat In reply to SmudDragon [2017-06-13 12:13:04 +0000 UTC]
And who can deny that? Also, on a more serious note, I'm honestly not sure how I feel about the remakes. I was happy with the story of Sun/Moon as it was and I don't feel the need for an alternate version. I actually would have liked a Sun/Moon 2, kind of like Black/White 2, a lot more in this one case. But we don't know much yet, so I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

SmudDragon In reply to SamCyberCat [2017-06-14 11:25:56 +0000 UTC]
It's the first time they've gone back to the original formula of releasing a third version with minor changes for a while now, since we never got a PokΓ©mon Z or Delta Emerald. Β It might not make huge alterations to the story at all. Β No idea what they're planning, to be honest. Β It was interesting to hear that the next entry in the main series is going to be on the Switch, too.

SamCyberCat In reply to SmudDragon [2017-06-15 16:21:23 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, when that game comes out I'll definitely have to get a Switch, since I've still been holding off on getting one for the time being. There's a lot of games I think I'll like, but nothing that jumps out as being a title I have to buy right now.
π: 0 β©: 1
SmudDragon In reply to SamCyberCat [2017-06-16 03:56:26 +0000 UTC]
Makes sense, and if you wait until then, there'll be heaps of other games to choose from too. We should have Yooka-Laylee for it by then; I haven't played it yet even though I have it on Steam, I just really want to play it on a Nintendo console.
π: 0 β©: 1
SamCyberCat In reply to SmudDragon [2017-06-16 11:19:09 +0000 UTC]
I didn't know that had even come out yet! A bunch of Youtubers I follow said they were going to run it when it did, but none of them have mentioned it, so I assumed it hadn't been released at all.
π: 0 β©: 1
SmudDragon In reply to SamCyberCat [2017-06-18 02:08:17 +0000 UTC]
How odd! Are they busy on other games or do they want it on the Switch too? XD A patch/update for the game has been announced now and due to the timing it'll just be integrated into the Switch version from the start.
π: 0 β©: 1
SamCyberCat In reply to SmudDragon [2017-06-20 11:29:03 +0000 UTC]
I feel like a lot of them are working on new Switch games while they're current, which I can completely understand. Hopefully that means they'll play it when it comes out for the Switch.
π: 0 β©: 1
SmudDragon In reply to SamCyberCat [2017-06-21 02:36:45 +0000 UTC]
Yeah that makes sense! Β There are enough games coming out as it is, I guess I'm not the only one who was grateful for a reason to delay picking up Yooka-Laylee and focus on different ones for now.
π: 0 β©: 1
SamCyberCat In reply to SmudDragon [2017-06-21 16:10:49 +0000 UTC]
It's kind of a shame for the team making the game that they might have released it at a bad time, but hopefully they'll do better with the Switch release.
π: 0 β©: 1
SmudDragon In reply to SamCyberCat [2017-06-22 11:58:50 +0000 UTC]
They had an overwhelming amount of support on Kickstarter though, everyone who pledged and wanted the Wii U version of the game was given time to change their console preference or else defaulted to the Steam version (except I was absent due to moving house at the time and didn't get a chance to change mine, but I'm fine with buying it twice because I just want to support them XDDD) Β Maybe having it release later on the Switch will be good for getting the attention of some people who otherwise didn't know about it?
π: 0 β©: 1
SamCyberCat In reply to SmudDragon [2017-06-25 08:45:30 +0000 UTC]
Hopefully that'll work out to be the case. There's been so many games that had a good Kickstarter run, but then I didn't hear about until afterwards - Undertale, Owlboy, Shovel Knight, etc. And having your game released on a Nintendo console definitely does help a new audience notice you, since a lot of Nintendo players (the casual fans, I mean, like families with kids and the like) aren't following the indie game scene as closely.
π: 0 β©: 1
SmudDragon In reply to SamCyberCat [2017-06-27 04:53:42 +0000 UTC]
And as much as I want to support the indie game scene and not let big businesses have the monopoly on the medium, sometimes it's smarter as a consumer to wait until there's some feedback on a game before committing to spending money on it.
π: 0 β©: 1
SamCyberCat In reply to SmudDragon [2017-06-27 14:40:30 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, even if you're buying it on Steam it's often best to wait and see what people say about a game before committing to buying it.

SmudDragon In reply to SamCyberCat [2017-06-28 11:20:57 +0000 UTC]
You know the meme of comparing things using the increasingly glowing brain images? Β I feel like there should be one like "getting excited about a new IP: [subdued brain image]; bingeing on a series that's existed for over ten years and has twenty games not counting spin-offs/crossovers, a live-action film, a theme park and a statue at the publisher's head office": [brain going fucking supernova image]"

SamCyberCat In reply to SmudDragon [2017-06-28 11:29:47 +0000 UTC]
I'm laughing so hard, because that's how I get into everything. It's either a series that's been around for waaay too long or else one that's been out of fashion just long enough that liking it feels like I'm just behind with the time. Between Free! and Night Vale, both of my current interests peaked around 2013-14. I don't know why I'm like this, I just am. XD
π: 0 β©: 1
SmudDragon In reply to SamCyberCat [2017-06-29 05:56:12 +0000 UTC]
I don't know if it's the same for you, but I keep casually checking things out just to know what people are talking about and ACCIDENTALLY BECOMING TOO INVESTED XDDD
π: 0 β©: 1
SamCyberCat In reply to SmudDragon [2017-06-29 16:20:31 +0000 UTC]
I do that sometimes as well! Though usually I'll either 1. Pick up a series none of my friends care about just because I think it looks interesting or 2. pick up a series all my friends follow just so I have something to talk about with them. XD
π: 0 β©: 1
SmudDragon In reply to SamCyberCat [2017-06-30 08:17:44 +0000 UTC]
The second one especially, if I see people enjoying something I get curious, and if it turns out to appeal to me then I become 1000% more enthusiastic about it if I have someone to discuss it with rather than being alone XD
π: 0 β©: 1
SamCyberCat In reply to SmudDragon [2017-07-01 15:55:12 +0000 UTC]
Which is always great! Though then if I end up watching the series and not liking it myself I feel guilty that I couldn't get into it. ^^'
π: 0 β©: 1
SmudDragon In reply to SamCyberCat [2017-07-02 11:08:41 +0000 UTC]
Aw, but you shouldn't have to feel bad that you don't like something just because lots of other people do. Β At least you have educated yourself and can keep up with the latest memes 8D
π: 0 β©: 1
SamCyberCat In reply to SmudDragon [2017-07-02 11:28:34 +0000 UTC]
That's a good way to look at it. Like, I didn't enjoy Yuri on Ice as much as I'd hoped to, but at least now I understand what half of my dash is talking about when it gets flooded with posts about that series. XD
π: 0 β©: 1
SmudDragon In reply to SamCyberCat [2017-07-03 13:53:24 +0000 UTC]
I'd like to sit down and watch that too, but I'm already pretty certain it can't live up to the amount of hype and the way people gush over it. Β So yeah now I feel forewarned that I probably won't be blown away, but if I don't go in expecting to be then I'm not going to be disappointed either. Β I might be pleasantly surprised by liking it more than I expected! Β Hahaha not that I need that right now, I just tried to casually check out the Yakuza series to understand the memes and suddenly IN TOO DEEP AGAIN.
π: 0 β©: 1
SamCyberCat In reply to SmudDragon [2017-07-12 10:01:11 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I think the best way to enjoy that series is to go in with low expectations. The first four episodes are fine, but then it quickly becomes a formula of watching minor characters you've never met before skating badly animated routines for most of the episode, then in the last few minutes they remember they need a plot, so they throw in something random like "idk this guy's dog is ill so he needs to leave now???", that you just know isn't going to go anywhere or have lasting effects on anything. Also, this is maybe the first series where I haven't enjoyed the support cast at all and you know how I'm usually here for supporting characters, so that's saying a lot. It's not BAD, just kinda dull and overhyped. Most of the fanwork is actually more interesting than the series itself.
π: 0 β©: 1
SmudDragon In reply to SamCyberCat [2017-07-13 05:00:40 +0000 UTC]
So is it one of those series where they had a good concept or characters but didn't end up capitalising on them? Hence the fanwork being more compelling than the source material?
π: 0 β©: 1
SamCyberCat In reply to SmudDragon [2017-07-13 16:58:35 +0000 UTC]
Exactly that. Though they have merch coming out the wazoo of all the characters. Honestly, most of the support cast are fleshed out more in the merch designs than they were in the actual show. XDD
π: 0 β©: 1
SmudDragon In reply to SamCyberCat [2017-07-14 08:44:39 +0000 UTC]
Wow okay so they obviously had good ideas and everything for the characters, but had to cut all that pointless crap out to fit more ice skating XDDD
π: 0 β©: 1
SamCyberCat In reply to SmudDragon [2017-07-14 15:45:57 +0000 UTC]
Which is a shame, because the animation on the ice skating segments is awful and they just repeat the same routines over and over again. Maybe they couldn't afford to animate it better? Though hopefully with all the money they've been racking in from selling $50 dog tissue boxes that look like they'd be at home on an Ashens Poundland Special they'll have a better budget for whatever they make next. 8D
π: 0 β©: 1
SmudDragon In reply to SamCyberCat [2017-07-16 02:19:20 +0000 UTC]
Maybe some of the cash from the merchandising tat could go towards fixing the animation on the DVD release, since shows seem to count more and more on being able to do that...
π: 0 β©: 1
SamCyberCat In reply to SmudDragon [2017-07-17 10:19:59 +0000 UTC]
I'd hope so. They did actually make a promo for one of the DVDs that was better animated than most of the show itself, but I haven't heard if anything got changed in the actual series for the DVD.
