Yeh she ended up having a tumour on her lungs, so we didnt wanna put her through anymore suffering.

I use Illustrator sometimes but that one was just done in Photoshart vectors. I used the pen tool. I actually like Inkscape because it is open source and makes SVG files that just open in any web browser (don't have to save out a JPG/GIF/PNG).

Well vectors are pretty easy if you use the pen tool properly. Just keep at it. Also think of your work in terms of big colour splotches. Sometimes it helps to draw that way to get used to the idea of building things up from the background forward using layers of colour.

Another thing that helps is to sketch out your idea roughly and put it in the background, then build the vectors on top of that layer-by-layer, starting from the background and moving toward the viewer.
