What is your major again?
I'm doing pretty good thank you. Still no job but I'm moving back to the school direction. After two years off and saving money I am feeling a calling back. Don't know what I want to major in though. I was so sure it was photography a few months ago. After I learned its a hard nut to crack and not a great job to start out with I am looking at other fields.
How is school so far?

Yeah, photography and other liberal arts are definitely attractive as fields of study, but not realistic as making a living goes. Get a stable career first, then develop your photography and maybe something will happen for you. There are so many amazing photographers out there, that we are a dime a dozen. I love to do it, but have little hope in making money off of it.

I'm an IT major, and I'm picking up my commission in the Marine Corps in about 9 months. Hopefully I'll be getting my masters next year, but we will see how that goes.

I definitely advise going back to school. Having an undergrad degree is the minimum requirement these days.

I enjoy school. Most of my classes are at least interesting enough to keep me awake, and I've learned some pretty cool stuff. Programming is a lot of fun for me, and I can see myself doing it after I leave the military.

Thats the type of advise I have been given.
I really wanted to do it so bad but after thinking it through I understand that its probably good advise to take. Especially if I am hoping to raise family someday. Having it as a hobby is cool though and if God allows me to makes something of it great.

Yeah, I had my dream set on being a photographer for National Geographic until very recently. Then I realized that it was what I wanted, not what God wanted. What he does want, I haven't figured out yet.

I've been in the navy for 5 years, most of which have been spent in school. I just started my senior year this week, and when I graduate I'll cross over to the Marines.

Yeah that was kinda the case with me. I had wanted to be a photographer so bad and thought that was my calling. After advise I was advised not to go there as a full time job. I was so sad but I got down and told God if he wanted me to give it up I would. I gave it up and like you not sure where my calling is yet.

I know alot of friends in the marines. I hear its a tough job but if thats where God want you no sweat. God speed!

I'm doing pretty well man. Just got back from a trip to Africa. Got lots of good portraits there.

I lost my own tripod in Argentina earlier in the summer. I don't really have the money to replace it right now. That looks like a nice tripod, I think it is the same one I had, except I didn't have that nice pistol grip head.

Most importantly, set standards for yourself.

Don't just take pictures that "look cool". Wait til you find a subject that will mean something to its viewers.

Set standards for yourself. Don't show the world every photo you take. only show your VERY best.

Do your research on the sciences of photography, they will advance your skill more than you know.
