hey dude.... thanks for the fave. a medical question.. out of concern (as a similar situation existed in my family around the time i was intropuced)... is the infection inherent? or something contracted from outside... because my brother and sister's father died of kidney failure (a severe... "complication" of preexisting hereditary problems) and as far as anyone knows they both of them are now screwed in ten years as well... anyhow will if that's the case, whatever happens to your father, PLEASE take care of yourself, i'm sure there is more that can be done for it than there was twenty years ago.
