Funny you chose Hemispheres for your quote. Always wanted to make a movie out of that album. CoS is my fave though.

cheesewafer In reply to MarkIrwin [2007-07-03 17:55:55 +0000 UTC]

I was contemplating making a production of 2112, Hemispheres, and Caress of Steel. Because they are all so interesting and follow a story. It is so cool how they do that. I can't pick a favorite because all their albums are just so amazing, but Caress of Steel is one that is in my CD player a lot, as well as Hemispheres.

Nice! I agree, love every album. CoS was the one that made me a psycho fan though, so it will always be my favorite. Really looking forward to the shows this summer!

I got to see them in Atlanta, and it was the best show I will ever hope to see. They are amazing. It was my first time seeing them live, and it was a night to remember. Hope you have fun.

I'm older; my first show was Heart, in '77. Saw Rush for the first time on the Signals tour, and have been hooked ever since!

cheesewafer In reply to MarkIrwin [2007-07-05 23:32:05 +0000 UTC]

That's pretty awesome. I love Heart they are pretty amazing. I wish I could have been around for Rush's earlier tours. Have you ever heard of Queensryche? They put on a pretty darn good show. I saw Operation:Mindcrime in 2005, it was my first concert, and it was awesome. They also came around in 2006 and it was an equally enjoyable experience .

MarkIrwin In reply to cheesewafer [2007-07-06 16:14:55 +0000 UTC]

I've seen Queensryche about 6x now. Rage For Order is one of my all time favorite albums; I think it's their best. I saw them last year on the Mindcrime 2 tour; they were really awful, bummed me out big time. I think when Chris DeGarmo left the band, they went downhill in a hurry. But still one of my faves. If you want to see a great live band, go see the Hives. You can leave or take their music (I like it; it's fun, poppy stuff), but they may be the greatest live band ever. Just tons of fun. The only bands I have not seen that I wish I had were the Kinks and Led Zeppelin; supposedly, the Kinks were the best live band ever- that's their rep. And of course, wish I had seen Rush on all their early tours...

cheesewafer In reply to MarkIrwin [2007-07-06 20:46:43 +0000 UTC]

That is so cool! Queensryche is amazing. Rage For Order is also my favorite with Empire following closely. I hated it when Chris left. He was amazing, and now Mike Stone. He is OK, not great, not terrible, but I think they could have found a better replacement. And I really did not like Kelly Grey. I'm not a huge O:M II fan, but I really enjoyed the first set, then they did an encore, and it was pretty awesome. I'm sorry you didn't like it.

Have you ever seen Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, or Eric Johnson in concert? I haven't, and I really want to badly.

I'll have to check out the Hives. I've heard of them, but I've never heard what they do.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MarkIrwin In reply to cheesewafer [2007-07-06 21:57:09 +0000 UTC]

I've seen Steve Vai with DLR, that was cool,. Eric Johnson opened for Rush once, but left the tour before they reached here; Mr. Big replaced him unfortunately. I've seen live footage of him, and though he's not very entertaining, he is a good player. Never seen Satriani, but I prefer to see a whole band, not a soloist, if I can.

My problem with 'Ryche was that their stage set was awful; MC2 also took up too much of the set. Their encore was two songs, and neither one of them was 'Silent Lucidity', which was shocking to me. It's not my fave or anything, but the fans around us were very disappointed. They did play 'Resistance' as part of the encore, which is one of my favorite tunes off that album, so that was cool. Just overall, they looked disinterested, and didn't sound very good. Maybe I just caught them on a bad night.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cheesewafer In reply to MarkIrwin [2007-07-06 22:53:15 +0000 UTC]

Eric Johnson would definitely be better than Mr.Big. Mr. Big is OK just because Paul Gilbert is an awesome guitarist, but overall I'm not a huge fan.

I agree about MC2 taking over too much. At the show I saw, they were having trouble with the mics because they were headsets and not regular mics. I was glad that for the encore they played Empire, but Silent Lucidity would have been great. I think you probably saw them on a bad night because they were so energetic it was hilarious.

MarkIrwin In reply to cheesewafer [2007-07-09 23:23:58 +0000 UTC]

Agreed; I saw them on that tour, the Empire tour, the Promised Land tour, the OM revisited (in it's entirety!) tour, and this last one, and this last one was the only one that disappointed.

Yep, I am really 15 . I wish I was older though. 50 would be a good age because that would mean I'd have lived through the 70s. The best decade ever.

I developed in the womb listening to Rush and Yes . My mom would listen to them a lot, and I guess I just became a super fan because of it.

anyway... how long have you been really into RUSH and Yes??

(i peeked at your conversation above, you`ve seen RUSH.. OMG i envy you really)

cheesewafer In reply to buttprobe-2112 [2007-07-05 14:52:09 +0000 UTC]

I know this is going to sound funny, but I guess you can say I was a fan back when my mom was pregnant with me. She would always listen to them, and I guess it just made me love thier music. But I have always loved them. On some family tapes, I was about 2 or 3 years old, and my sister and I would be "singing" to Roll The Bones. It's pretty funny. And for Yes it's the same. I grew up listening to Big Generator, and it spawned from there.

What about you? How long have you been a Rush/Yes fan?

Oh yes, I got to see Rush!!! It was amazing!!! If you get the chance to go see them, you need to, it is the experience of a lifetime!

Nope unfortunately I'm not. Would have loved to have been one though but just don't that specific talent. I'm an hardcore music listener though, mostly 60's, 70's and sometimes 80's rock. I do listen to Hip Hop and Rap once in a while but only old school stuff not that modern day crap!
