Well at least you're worried about the foundation. I'm just thinking about what colour I want to paint the walls hahaha.
I suppose I'm doing all right with it. I'm not living an ideal life, nor do I think I'll ever accomplish all my dreams. I figure that if I can at least get one fully completed I've done well.

mhmmm well that's a good idea on how to face it
but you do have to face reality with it's existence.
i'm willing to give all i have to for my dream... so reality doesn't really matter to me...idk it's just a dream i'm not willing to let die like all the others i've had to let go of because of how people treated me... i'm doing what i want because it makes me happy and i guess in a way i want to show how much it really means to me by fighting for it.

Good, don't let anything stop you. Fight, kick, scratch, and claw your way to what you want. I admire that you're willing to fight and fight for what you want to accomplish.
I myself have had to slow down. I was really just thrashing on myself to accomplish everything I wanted all at the same time so I was just getting nowhere.
Had I an organized plan and new what specific thing I wanted to do I'd probably have gotten further than I have in the past few years. But I just spent way too much time jumping around from one idea to the next so I never made any progress you know?

naw i get ya man. like one time i wanted to be a pediatrician, a psychiatrist, i wanted to be in a band, i wanted to be an artist... and stuff i tried doing all i could for all of them but it just felt like i was stretching myself out too far in too many directions instead of taking my time with one and developing it so i could make something of it. i got knocked back into a sense of reality and beaten down by my parents with ideals and i have to keep my head on straight and make a foundation instead of blindly shooting for the stars and hoping that i catch one some day. idk if it's going to work out for me, but i'm going to give it my all.

That's all you can do. You seem to have a good head on your shoulders. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to accomplish your goals. Whatever they may be, or whatever they may become.
I still have all my dreams and I will continue to try and achieve them. I am however going to try to get them slowly instead of killing myself to live.
So how are your classes coming along?

Well since I do automotive art my 'rival' I guess would be Chip Foose. Now, I don't know how he is in person, but I've heard he is a rather nice fellow, but personally I find his work very bland, but he has made such a name for himself.
So I would like to reach his level of popularity.
Or at least be vastly known through the underground scene, like Von Dutch, or Ed Roth. I think that it would be cool to be an automotive artist god haha.
I'm not so much worried about money. As long as I can continue to buy supplies so I can keep painting and drawing I'm fine. I don't care if I am living in a box haha.

Haha I've personally always found it hard to sell my art. It's not hard for me to do, it doesn't take me long, so I found it odd that people would give me money for it.
Like right now, I've got my own automotive art business and I'm doing pretty well at it. I still hate charging people for art, but I am the cheapest custom automotive artist that I've ever witnessed.
Did you know that most custom car art starts around $500!? That's insane!
I start at $100 and that includes free shipping haha.
For a fine art piece sure I can understand a high price tag. But for a car or a truck? That's pathetic and greedy I think.

hobophonics In reply to SpookyKidDesigns [2010-03-25 07:01:23 +0000 UTC]
mhmmmm ah i see
yeah i usually never charge for sketches or anything... i just can't bare to do it and plus i can never figure out what my range should be because i don't want to not get money since i'm always broke, but i couldn't bare to sell it for too much because it gets ridiculous and i'm not that good but if i was good i still wouldn't charge too much because that's just mean and makes me put myself above people like i'm condescending or something like that...
it's intense :/ but people have to pay the bills somehow :/
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SpookyKidDesigns In reply to hobophonics [2010-03-25 07:20:15 +0000 UTC]
That's the exact same way I feel.
I figure I'm charging 1/5 the price of my competitors, at the very least, so I'm not some pompous artist or whatever, but I'm making $100 a drawing! I think that's amazing for myself.
The amount will cover the cost of supplies, shipping, and then still give me a little extra to spend on food and such items.
I have no idea how much you could sell your work for because you're in a completely different classification than me.
Hell, you could sell your stuff to office buildings for them to hang on their walls. You really could. Have you attempted to have any of your items put into galleries?

See, I think that's a plus for me. My automotive work isn't really PERSONAL. My private collection of personal pieces will never see the light of day. Actually I usually tear them too pieces and/ or burn them so nobody will ever have the opportunity of seeing them.
I'm just weird...
I have a job offer to do an auto painting for some guy in Florida. I get a lot of offers but they usually fall through when I remind the person that they need to pay me. This one seems to be going smoothly so far.

Haha, your brain on little scraps of paper...that's an interesting concept haha.
You should draw something out about that.
Well, I just had to inform him that I need at least half the payment up front before I even start the work, that way I know he's serious and I don't waste any of my time and supplies.
I just HATE asking people for money even if it's owed to me. It just makes me feel...wrong.

It doesn't make me feel good, that's for sure.
I remember the first custom job I did for somebody. It was the '87 Buick Grand National. It was for a guy I saw all the time at the local Friday Night car shows I went to so I was able to give it to him in person and being able to see his excitement and watch him put it next to his car proudly. Wow, that was a rush and THAT made me feel like an accomplished artist.
He gave me some money, actually everything he had on him because I told him I didn't know how much to charge haha.
I think I got about $40 that night. It was a rush.

All my other work though has been sent out of state, a couple out of country, so I didn't get to see the persons reactions and stuff. So that part is pretty boring. I like the face-to-face interaction.
I think it'd be fun to own my own personal gallery one day. Just have all my work up on display and get to watch people look at and study my art. That'd be neat I think...

Yeah, I don't do so well with groups of people in situations like that.
Like I dread going to the market or store. I just want to get in and get out as soon as possible. I get VERY uncomfortable in those types of settings.
However, I can go to a concert and be crammed in the middle of a group of people and be perfectly content.
Well I don't see why you couldn't work in a little coffee shop or cafe. Go for it.

I'm not so much a pacifist. I have learned control over the years, but I still retaliate when it's necessary.
Well you are a very pretty girl so naturally, many girls are going to see you as competition so they hate you automatically.
It is stupid, but it is true.

and that's all it really is good for... but even then that's rough :/
oh... thank you...
hmm i guess i just don't see that... i don't think they have anything to be threatened by
plus i'm one of the oddest unsociable person out there...
i'm socially awkward and no one can ever relate to me so i never have anything to talk about with anyone... it just sucks.. and most girls are just dumb beyond reason
it is stupid but personally i see no reason for them to be so stupid.

All people are stupid. You don't really seem THAT unsociable. I've been carrying a conversation with you for what...4 days? I have yet to become bored haha.
It's not surprising you don't see your own beauty, you're just not conceited haha. I am not trying to hit on you are anything, just to make that clear. I don't want to come off as 'that guy'.
People have such odd emotions and irregular ways of showing them. Never let the looks of others discourage you.

hobophonics In reply to SpookyKidDesigns [2010-03-26 06:47:53 +0000 UTC]
mhmmm... i guess that's why i just can't stand the grand majority of them... i get fed up with the stupidity... it reaks
ehhhh you don't even know man...
i guess it's fine here just because there is the universal theme of art goin round but the fact you aren't my age and just plain stupid as hell.
i suppose you think more often than most people and i tend to carry conversations better with misfit like people... no offense...
so that's probably why.
hmmm i never wanted to be a self absorbed person so i always tore myself down and so did everyone else so it made no difference to me. i can't stand people that love themselves way too much...
no i get that. it's all good.
i guess so but most have predictable and ridiculous emotions... hm... at my age though it's mostly the emotions that are displayed for attention and lots of it. again makes me want to deck someone but it's not my place to act out on impulses. it's just wrong.
i don't care much for other people. specially people i don't know if they give me rotten looks i just keep doing what i was doing, but if the air is thick with their own self perceptions and just all together snooty vibes and just makes the air heavy with utter disgust and competition, i want nothing to do with it.
to be frank girls are hideous creatures.

I don't take any offense to the misfit-like persons. I've had that title my entire life, it's nothing new too me.
I don't know if I can agree that 'girls are hideous creatures', but I can say that I find people in general disgusting. There is no other beast on the planet that is as repulsive as a human. I myself am no clean being, I know that. I find people absolutely revolting. That's why I like my machinery.

mhmmm, i've always been one too
hm, well they are if you look at how they act rather than look... i like the delicacy in the look bu that's bout it.
they are mean and nasty
and the human race is rather bad... it's hard to find well rounded people these days... but even then there are just some unlikeable aspects to the human race.... i hate what's become of a lot of it and the fact that the us is just built on mainly consumerism... it's no longer about quality... and how demoralized it's become and how they can sit there and pump animals full of hormones and chemicals and expect people to eat it... it's wrong.... idk i just have a lot of problems with things now but there isn't any reasonable dream for these things.. idk
eh i've been holding a lot of anger towards things lately... it's odd... but i guess it's just my frustration from having no time and not being able to sleep that's getting me... i need a vacation :/
i can understand why you like machinery though... personally i think it's fascinating... you know i'm never able to draw something right unless i've taken it apart built it back and explored it all over... that's what i get for being a kinesthetic learner i suppose Cx

It sounds like you need a vacation. At least your Spring Break is coming up. That is good right?
I think that's an interesting way to learn to properly draw something. That's a skill in itself I think.
I would never get anything done if I had to do that though. I'd be out in my front yard taking cars apart all day and never getting to the painting haha.

it's just shit.
i do need one, eh won't happen i'll be busy working on assignments from my classes and whatever else they think to bombard me with...
no break for me... as usual...
mhmmm, well it makes sense to me if i know where all the little pieces fit in i know why it's shaped the way it is so it makes sense to me more and even then i'm happy about what i'm drawing because i like knowing where all the little things are... like the inside of a typewriter! god it's pretty inside of one of those mechanisms C:
idk i can't stand not taking things apart Cx
i don't like reference pictures all that much because usually they just show you one thing when i want to know more in depth about the picture Cx
idk it's a crazy habit...
thanks though Cx
mhmmm, i bet Cx
i use it as a tool to teach myself though
so if i take apart enough things or study one thing i can make assumptions as to the functions of similar object therefore understanding their casement and stuff so it all just makes sense to me so i can draw it because i feel like i know enough about it... idk it's hard to explain... it just clicks to put it simply.

Oh I understand exactly what you're saying. I take a lot of things apart as well, but rarely know how to put them back together haha.
When it comes to my automobile drawings I basically already know the inner-structure and moving parts lists so I easily understand what you are talking about. It really does make it easier to re-create an item when you know the inner-workings.
I've always wanted a classic typewriter, but they are so expensive. If I got one I probably wouldn't take it apart because then it would never work again haha.
If you should disassemble another one any time soon you should take some pictures of it for me.
