Hey, I'm currently looking to try and get in contact with your friend gemie-roo. I'm not sure if she's your friend or not, but you and her are watching each other. She made a plushie a while back which has become famous in finland, and a friend of mine would like to buy her (the plushie). If you could provide contact details for her, that would be amazing. Alternately, the seller can be contacted at herra.benjamin@hotmail.com, so if you could forward that to her, I'd be much obliged. Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry if this posted multiple times

KataabaIzuua In reply to ??? [2012-02-25 16:02:20 +0000 UTC]

Hey! I've been studying Monet lately and I stumbled across something that hopefully you will find helpful. He and similar artists used short, quick strokes to help capture the essence over details. In all your simpler arts, you do this but when you get more complicated(more people, odd angles, etc) you allow yourself to get caught up in the details.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hunberryGuruma In reply to KataabaIzuua [2012-02-25 20:48:29 +0000 UTC]

aah! Claude Monet! It's funny you mention him, In art we are doing tiles
and someone did a Monet painting..I never really payed attention to his
work until you mentioned it and I find your tip really helpful! It's an
eye opener because I find myself getting caught up in details as well!
*_* I think I shall test out this technique now! :3 Thank you so much!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KataabaIzuua In reply to hunberryGuruma [2012-02-26 22:41:24 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I haven't paid much attention to painters either. I don't use paint and I'm an illustrator so why would they matter? But I guess we are just limiting ourselves too much if we think like that. I think we can learn from anything and everything if we let ourselves. I've also learned a lot from Lion King in representing animal expressions. Artists are like Oracles, we see connections that others miss!

hunberryGuruma In reply to KataabaIzuua [2012-02-28 02:46:27 +0000 UTC]

: ) mmmhmm! So true! you can definitely make use of everything around you!
For me that goes with school..sometimes the things I learn I find useful
for my stories. The more flexible you are with things
the better! :3 does that mean you're going to start working more
with color?

fwahaha..I love your last stateme-- I mean I love your
last words of wisdom -w- ..because It's true

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KataabaIzuua In reply to hunberryGuruma [2012-02-28 17:17:19 +0000 UTC]

I hope to start working more with color soon. I'm always so awkward and nervous with colors. :< How do you do your colored work? With computer or traditional media?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hunberryGuruma In reply to KataabaIzuua [2012-02-29 02:05:52 +0000 UTC]

ah! always digital, however recently I've been working my butt off
traditionally for my portfolio..I must say I have unlocked
a new door of hidden talent! I'm better than I thought I would be
(I never took traditional painting seriously despite my mom being a
traditional artist) :33 I'm actually working on a piece to post!
I can't wait for you to see it! Your technique tip came in handy
just in time! I'm totally using it for my painting

oh! Maybe if you're too intimidated by color you should start
off by doing it traditionally. I had that same problem..I think
prolly cuz I see other people use a certain program, and then when
I use it, it comes out terrible..where If you work with paint hands
on it gives you the full power to experience based off of your knowledge..and then I guess when you feel comfortable with your painting skills you can take it to the computer! I mean it's practically the same concept..>w> I dunno..that's just me.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KataabaIzuua In reply to hunberryGuruma [2012-02-29 23:01:27 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, I'm actually the complete opposite. I basically use traditional media for my work but it never seems to come out well. Digitally, I have no problem with though.

[link]

Its one of my digital color pieces. However, I use adobe illustrator instead of photoshop which is vector based. This means it uses equations to create the image and not pixels.

I think your advice is correct though. I'm probably intimidated by traditional coloring while digital coloring seems to help me get used to it. I can't wait to see your new piece though! No pressure. :<

hunberryGuruma In reply to KataabaIzuua [2012-03-03 01:51:32 +0000 UTC]

oooo.. I think it's a really good piece l because it shows great depth. :> I'm really impressed that you can make such an awesome looking vector!*w* SO COOL!! Especially since you used Illustrator..(>A> I'm no good at that program..)

lollll I think it's so funny how we're such opposites
+w+ and yes! No pressure at all!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KataabaIzuua In reply to hunberryGuruma [2012-03-04 07:49:10 +0000 UTC]

Being opposites is why we learn so much from each other though right? Thanks for the compliments too!

I think computer type things are easier for me because you can always redo and erase and fix way easier than traditional media. Illustrator is especially annoying because it takes a LOT of time to make anything look good; photoshop is probably way faster.

hunberryGuruma In reply to KataabaIzuua [2012-03-04 17:16:11 +0000 UTC]

No problem! : ) and Yeah I agree because I use photoshop more and it's much easier! Do you ever draw your scenery straight on the pc or do you hand draw it 1st?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KataabaIzuua In reply to hunberryGuruma [2012-03-04 22:50:48 +0000 UTC]

I always hand draw everything haha. Only thing I use pc for is editing and-if I'm doing panels-words for the bubbles.

KataabaIzuua In reply to hunberryGuruma [2012-03-05 04:35:42 +0000 UTC]

I'm ok with them I guess? lol I don't do much with backgrounds but I've practiced enough things like water, ice, rocks, etc. Any reason you ask?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hunberryGuruma In reply to KataabaIzuua [2012-03-08 00:53:18 +0000 UTC]

ummm..no not really XD I just wanted to know! Because I don't know
a lot of people who are passionate about backgrounds besides myself..
I mean it can be a real pain to draw with all the perspective and
what not

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KataabaIzuua In reply to hunberryGuruma [2012-03-08 01:55:22 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, background perspective seems to be pretty easy for me since the perspective point tends to be pretty far away. The further it is, the less distortion appears in the objects you know? But curvy things can be very tricky and annoying. Its the only thing I really have trouble with and it gives me ALOT of trouble. ><

You use the forground, midground & background technique? For drawing people I use the eye-level technique. Whatever part of a person is at eye-level with you will be at eye-level for every person in the picture as long as they are on the same plane. The horizon line is also known as eye-level btw.
