I like Gundam series in general. Wing, SEED/Destiny and 00 being on the top of my list.
SEED has a lot of fanfic potential though. I guess that's because the show focuses more on the characters and personalities.

Gotta agree with you there, SEED really leaves space for character development for sure. Wing will still always be a classic to me though. Hehe,

Oh yeah, I also noticed your RomeoXJuliet pic a few days ago. What a coincidence! That anime's about to be shown on the Animax Asia channel, so I thought I'd watch it online to get a headstart.
I don't quite get that joke yet as I'm still on episode 1, but I'll definitely keep an eye out for that episode. (Relax, I don't mind a few minor spoilers every now and then).
Juliet looks cool with that "Crimson Whirlwind" outfit of hers too by the way.

Really!? Awesome! I just realized that I had the anime and hadn't watched it yet. And I loved it so much, I just had to draw something about it.
Well, the joke is linked to another, quite obscure anime, so if you get to the episode and still don't get it, feel free to ask.
Heheh, yesh, Juliet is so cool!

You mean "Utawareru Mono" right? Yeah, I did manage to catch a few episodes of it. But I didn't see the "country woman gag" yet. Well, anyways I think I'm gonna go and watch some more of Romeo X Juliet for a little while longer. I'll let you know when I get to Ep. 12

Prince-in-Disguise In reply to jacenleonhart [2010-04-18 16:34:43 +0000 UTC]
I can't remember if the country woman gag actually appears in the series itself, or in one of the extra OVA movies, but I've seen most of the Utawareru content, since my brother's a super Uta-fanatic. Anyway, it's somewhere in there.
Yeah, I'd definitely recommend watching RxJ, since it's epic and awesome...

jacenleonhart In reply to Prince-in-Disguise [2010-04-19 01:51:45 +0000 UTC]
Ahh... yes, very epic indeed. I'm already starting to like at least 5 things about this anime (Sorry, it's pretty long. ) :
1. Juliet as the Crimson Whirlwind (The subs say "Crimson" but the dubs say "Red". I think I'll check the original Japanese audio again).
2. Tybalt's entrance at the end of Ep. 7. Is it just me or does he bear a slight resemblance to Squall?
3. That scene in Ep. 4 where Juliet slips and nearly falls into the fire and Romeo tries to save her only to fall on top of her! (The Animax Channel's trailer showed that scene along with a caption "No Dirty Thoughts Please!")
4. The playwright, William's timely quotes. Those are actual Shakespearean lines!
5. The ending theme!
It really does justice to Shakespeare's original.
Bummer about Hermione getting dumped though. There, there. It's ok.

Ah yes, unrequited love is a terrible thing.
Oh by the way, I've already seen episode 12. Let's see if I can figure out the joke...
That's it!
The skirt makes Juliet look like a country woman since they were also on the country side!
Hehehehe... who am I kidding? I don't get it!
I checked your fancomic again and noticed you added a hair ornament that Juliet didn't have on that scene. So I know that there's something more to that.
Care to enlighten me?

Prince-in-Disguise In reply to jacenleonhart [2010-04-24 20:03:51 +0000 UTC]
You've got the one meaning of country woman down right - the good version: Juliet's wearing a skirt that she found in an abandoned country village, and now she looks an adorable country maiden.
Now, in Utawareru Mono, the term "country woman" could also be interpreted as bad in a sense that they're durable and fierce, as one of the characters from the little country village in which the anime is set, dared to point out. He said that they're all sweet and quiet when they're young (he was referring to Eruruw, the eldest of the two sisters and also one of the main characters) but that as soon as they get married, they turn into real country women...! His "country woman" wife was quick to prove his point by hitting him over the head for indirectly insulting her.
Then, later on, Eruruw loses her temper towards one of the guys (I think it might have been Oboro). Hakuoro (the man with the mask) rushes out of the room and silently laments that the old man was right, "Eruruw's turning into a country woman!"
Now I can't be sure if that was part of the main anime or in one of the OVAs, since I watched all of it crammed together... Anyway, then some of the Japanese comics that came out about Utawareru Mono, featured Eruruw wielding a fork as a sign that she's going to lose her temper.
The hair ornament I put in Juliet's hair in the comic, is the hair ornament worn by Eruruw, and I also drew her hiding a fork behind her back, to show that she's turning into a country woman, Eruruw-style! Romeo seems to notice the impending doom on its way, since now that Juliet is "married", she could be turning into a country woman.
I hope that helped to explain the comic.

Whoa! If Eruruw is as fierce as you say, Romeo had better watch himself around Juliet then! She's already pretty feisty as the Red Whirlwind, but now with this... Uh oh!
Thanks a lot for explaining!
By the way, I finally finished RxJ! You were right. It IS epic! At least in this version, Romeo lived and died as honorable man, while Juliet made the ultimate sacrifice so that everyone else could go on living. And yes, they got to be together to the very end.

Ehehehe... Relax. I could use the humor since things have been a little mundane around here.
On the other hand, I seem to have come up with a couple of ideas to work on for that fanfic I mentioned a while back. Remember when you were wondering what would happen if a traditional Gundam were to be stolen in the Gundam Seed universe? I've decided to name the story Gundam Seed: Origin.
I did manage to conceptualize a prologue. It's about how Athrun got his mask from Cagalli. As long as your sticking around, care to hear a short summary of what happens?

Okay, here goes, it's still sketchy, but I hope you like it:
----
4 years have passed since GSD. The PLANT's now enjoy a life of peace under Lacus Clyne's rule. All that changes however, during her annual State of the Nation Address: Lacus is nearly assassinated after proposing that the PLANTS and the Earth Nations unite as one. Shortly after, a string of terrorist attacks have begun to strike both the world and the colonies.
In light of recent events, Athrun petitions Cagalli to launch an armed intervention to help the PLANTs and the surrounding nations. However, in keeping to ORB's neutral policy, she refuses, leading to a... "disagreement" of sorts.
Dismayed, Athrun consults both Shinn and the Hawke siblings (now retired from active duty and currently living in ORB) and the three decide to re-enlist in ZAFT. The next week, Cagalli summons Athrun to her office. She tells him that there is too much that is still unknown, particularly the reason for the attacks.
So, instead of an armed intervention, (and having him risk repating his mistakes in the past war) she sends him back to ZAFT (although reluctantly) on a fact-finding mission. But before saying goodbye, she gives him a mask, telling him that he is already too well-known. So, until he can use the fact that he is Athrun as a weapon, he'll have to do with the mask and an alias.
----
There you have it.
