I am, very much so, I've just been occupied with other fandoms for a long time. I didn't really get along with other fans of the ship on Tumblr, so I haven't been very active since. But it's still superb ship!

Ah, I very much agree, it's clearly the best romance there ever was in Star Trek, so subtle and strong^^ I can very much see why The Wire is Andrew Robinson's favorite episode β The Wire and Distant Voices are my favorite episodes. With my lovemate we've started to write a fanfic that starts just a little before The Wire, when Garak starts to get symptoms that his implant started malfunctioning, and with additional things happening behind the episode's scenes, and I really look forward to releasing it for the Garak/Bashir romance and all the very Star-Treky political criticism and plots^^

That sounds very interesting i deed! I have written Garak/Bashur fics myself years back, but not English tho. It's very fruitful ship.

If we get to release that story someday, I'll make sure to tell you^^
Did you write your fanfics in Finnish? It's such a cute language with all those letters^^ (and I absolutely can't read it -- still struggling to learn Swedish)

Sure, tell me when ever you are ready, I haven't read new fics with ship in a quite a while anyway.
In Finnish, yes, I do all of my writing in Finnish. DS9 isn't very known tho, it's a bit of an obscure niche inside of an obscure niche xD I have tried to write in English, DS9 stuff too, but I had a sort of negative feedback back in the day in some Star Trek groups, years ago actually, and I haven't really recovered since.

Great^^ It'll probably take a bit of time as we have to go through a number of proofreading/editing phases, but I do hope we'll get there eventually.
It's a pity that feedback had you quit... Was it about the quality of English or the stories themselves? (if I may inquire)

Take your good time
I guess my texts were both poor in storytelling and lacking English. It was years ago and I was considerably worse back then, and even now I am not that great when in comes to writing prose in English. I was, and still am, a little too arrogant to ask help. I am not a beginner in Finnish you know, guess I have a decent following or something, and it just hurts my goddamn pride to admit that I am not that good, you know xD

noxfoxArts In reply to jossujb [2017-08-05 18:13:20 +0000 UTC]
Yes, the more it matures, the better it gets^^ And it gives me time to come up with grammar and vocabulary for the occurrences in which universal translators are off and babel falls on the characters^^ (does damn me a bit that I might have to do that also for Trill language)
Writing in a different language can be quite tough tho. When I started writing in English, I guess my stories lost a lot in quality because I was writing awkwardly, and it took years to come to the level I now have (basically when natives difficultly spot I'm not a native speaker -- but non-native spot things still!) I quite wish I could start writing in Swedish in a few years, but I know it's probably going to take more than that, considering I still struggle to speak at all. And it hurts my pride too because I'm supposed to be very, very goodΒ at language stuff. So I guess I can relate a bit *hugs*

Did I understand correctly, that you're writing in English even if it's not your first language? Is Sweden you native tongue then? Wouldn't that be easier rather than more difficult? I at least can express myself far better in Finnish, I am more or less know for inventive wording, which I cabn't replicate in English at all. Tho maybe there isn't big fanfic circles in Swedish then? There's actually rather large audience in Finnish, so I have like 15 years of practice already xD

noxfoxArts In reply to jossujb [2017-08-07 09:29:26 +0000 UTC]
Waw, I didn't know there was a large audience in Finnish but that's cool!
And sorry if I phrased myself confusingly, French is actually my mother tongue and the one which I first started writing stories. Then I started to write in English in order to improve in that language and communicate better on the Internet. Then as it turned out, I ended up having a lot more contact on the Internet than irl, and from the point I ended studies, English basically became my primary language. I met my lovemate online and came to live with him in Sweden, so I'm learning Swedish now, and worrying about the way French starts to slip away from me because I have nobody to talk to in that language. I write with my lovemate in English since it's our common language, and I try to help myself learning Swedish by designing a Cardassian language at the same time (and I think it works actually quite well to motivate me xD)

Most people are pretty surprised, but online writing is relatively intensive in Finnish circles xD
Ah, well. You must be very good in languages anyway, I couldn't really imagine writing prose in anything but my native tongue. I can write a short ficlet in English if I really must, but the quality is neither here or there, It is pity tho, if you don't find time to talk your first language, as I believe there is nothing quite own as language you first learn.Β
But that said, if you already know English, I can say that Swedish should be pretty easy after that. They are both Germanic languages after all. Tho what can I say, I completely failed all of my Swedish classes back in the day, even tho it was supposed to be easy after English xDD

Jossu, a late good evening shout out to you from California, where I'm ten hours behind you and playing hookey from work. Thank you for the DA watch, and for the fave on de afarensis . I'm so glad you like that one. It's not very popular, but the subject is near and dear to me. I'd seen and been drawn to your very unusual and visually compelling illustrative style before; but Portrait of a child pushed me over the top to watch you.
Cheers,
Ed

Good evening, Jossu. Greetings to you from California, where I'm ten hours behind you, still slogging away at my day job. Thank you for the llama, and thank you especially for sharing your own very competent technique and unique style. (Here's also a comment that probably doesn't fit anywhere. I don't believe in coincidences, but that everything is connected. Anyway, I used to geocache. My ladyfriend and I left a "travelbug" somewhere in California -- so long ago I don't remember where exactly -- with the intention it travel halfway around the world to Madagascar. I just received a notification that it was found in Finland. And then you. So there. What does it all mean? Who knows? We probably do on some other level.)
Cheers,
Ed

Well, good evening to you to, and thanks for the compliments and such. You're welcome for the llama, you have quite interesting gallery as well. Quite an interesting story you have there, not very many things nor people wound in Finland if they don't absolutely have to xD Though I wouldn't say my Finnishness has much to do with anything, that's a thing that just is without a meaning
