Ideas? Sure.. I really like Anna the bounty hunter. Could you illustrate how she had her new leg made? Other ideas for Anna: How did she lose her real leg... When she lost her leg, did she manage her stump, so, she would not bleed out? An illustration of the shootout aftermath could be very interesting!
Do you have any other characters from you games that had simular mishaps? Even the characters that did not survive could make a great drawing.
In both Star Wars, and Star Trek (the Borg), there was indiviuals who lost limbs, and had replacements.. the construction of those replacements could be fun thing to illustrate.
I hope these ideas help.

Richard,
You're right...those ideas do sound good to explore...Anna lost her leg during a pretty heavy fire-fight aboard a Star Destroyer if memory serves...(there was a lot of them in the games I was in!) That'll take some reconstructing! As to other characters, well; there were a few...but I finally got into a game going recently where I started running a one legged character from the off...a pirate in a D&D game. I'll certainly work at a sketch of her too...
I wonder, do you have similar gaming stuff to share and illustrate too?
John

You are correct. I do have some illustrations to share from past games. I have alot of art I'm sorting thru at this time. I want to post more current artwork, so, some of my old art is helping me to remember those old games.
Reconstructing those old games can be some great inspiration for some new art! Your new pirate character will be interesting to see!

Something really weird happened here today - good - but weird: I've noticed that suddenly I had nearly 100 extras hits on this page today: anyone any ideas why?
Don't get me wrong: I like...no...make that love...that someone is interested in all this...I'm just curious to know who he/she/they are?!
But they may prefer to remain 'anon'. Well, that's cool too...

Hi all,
I'm sorry I've not posted anything for ages...work and stuff got in the way. I'm just about to put up a sketch I did last night.
One question occured to me to ask to those who are king enough to visit here...is there an appettite amongst those who visit for me to include a bit more blood & gore into the drawings? I noticed a few contributors out there do explore that side of this...what's everybody think? My own instinct is to avoid it...but I'm hapy to listen to suggestions and thoughts.
All the best,
John

Dude, no blood OR gore, please.
You don't need it to be a good artist. And about that Hsien-Ko pic, can you show a frontal version pic?

No problem - I really like Victoria; perhaps it's the curve of her thighs and the rakish Stetson hat that appeals!
Something makes her stand out...top stuff!
Best wishes,

londonjohn In reply to GrizzlyOne [2005-12-31 10:53:48 +0000 UTC]
Hi Griz,
Fair enough! I've not taken offence at your question. Which I consider a fair query because, if I'm honest with myself, this whole amputee thing has freaked me out a bit over the years too.
Your question deserves an honest reply. So here goes (please don't mistake this reply to be a smart ass one either, I'm just saying it like I see it!)
It would seem that the posh word for my interest is acrotomophilia. I freely acknowledge that such an interest is far from ordinary: deviant and perverse are two words which often seem to get used in the same breath when this topic comes up on TV or when chatting in the bar. But neither is it unique: from what I can deduce, there seems to be an fairly active on-line community of about 3-4000 like minded souls. Who knows how many others there maybe out there!
I concede that this attraction can be viewed with - at best - suspicion. Other reactions include everything from alarm, contempt, revulsion and anger. Understandably, such feelings and responses are heightened amongst the disabled community.
Here, at least on DeviantArt, a sort of truce seems to exist. A 'live and let live' ethos seems to abide: and for this I am very grateful!
Also, please let me be totally clear on this: my aim here is not to shock or upset you or anyone else...and if I have; well - I am genuinely sorry.
Bottom line is: I can't explain my interest in amputee women. Several academic studies have looked into this attraction generally and failed to provide adequate explantions - they diagnose very well; but (it would seem) hardly ever explain it's origin to to general satisfaction.
I too long ago gave up trying to figure it out. I also tried to ignore it and a whole other range of 'displacement activities' (including - yes - that hated word: therapy.)
So, now - armed with what passes for the wisdom of acceptance - I just try to get along with my acrotomophilia and in the absence of other avenues to explore, I guess I indulge it here.
Oh, and for the record (and contrary to what my ex partner thought) I sure don't intend to rush out and mutilate anyone.
Anyway, there you go...All the best, Griz. I hope there's no hard feelings!
John
