What plushie(s) was/were the most fun to make? Most tedious? Time consuming? Most difficult? Easiest?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
pheleon In reply to Alec-Scudder [2013-06-26 23:36:14 +0000 UTC]
Fun.. the first two that come to mind are Mayuri and Amon... mainly cuz I spent a few days straight working on them like I was a possessed demon, so I guess I must have been having fun.
Tedious...The latter two were extremely tedious, but also the kids in armour (Allistair and Gilgamesh) and Todd the Wraith. Oh and the jrocker Emiru.
Time consuming..usually things that require a lot of painting or stuff that's removable. Once again, I think Todd takes the cake. XD
Difficult... Amon's hood took me like 6 failed patterns. o_0 Another tricky one was Alucard's coat.
Easiest... probably a Grimmjow chibi because I've made him so many times that I don't even need a reference.

Hi, I am kindly asking, when you will be selling more patterns? Keep up with the great work. Sorry.

Naw, I don't feel like selling the pattern anymore. If I change my mind, I will let people know. But for the time being, there's no point of waiting.

I did apologise for the past and i want to make it up to you and i'm sorry. I would like to be one of those people, if possible. You were going to sell one to me before and i would have wanted to buy your amazing pattern. If not i will spend my thousands else where.

pheleon In reply to AlexXe666 [2013-06-05 02:45:56 +0000 UTC]
It's not a matter of apology, it's a matter of trust and principle. I'm sorry to say, but at this point, I simply don't trust you, and there is nothing that you can do to change that. I don't carry any ill feelings towards you personally; I'm sure you're being sincere with your words. But for your actions, they have to be held accountable. Asking one of my customers to scan the pattern without the artist's consent is not only a scam, but a serious breach of respect for my work.
I had explained previously that although I was going to sell you the pattern originally, you questioned the price after the purchase-- I did not (and will never) feel comfortable selling something to someone that was not aware of the price before the time of purchase. There was a list of other people waiting for the pattern; it simply went to the next person.
Please spend your thousands elsewhere. I'm sure there are other wonderful plushies and patterns out there. ^_^

Wow what a four eyed cow!!!! I was asking how the pattern worked. It's not like i was asking "hey can you send me a photo of the pages that pheleon sent you so i can copy them". Now that is un-trust worthy. I did want the patter and i was a little surprised with the price compared to the other prices on etsy. There are much more better and nicer people who i can get a plushie from. Thank i will.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1
pheleon In reply to NeOnXsNoW [2013-03-10 15:30:09 +0000 UTC]
Flanelette, fleece, craft velour, deersuede, broadcloth, corduroy... essentially any fabric that's thin and preferably non-fraying.

i have a question about the plushes.
i'm new to making plushes and ive been using buttons for eyes. im currently working on my 3rd one(for my brother) and ive learn't you use a hot glue gun for the hair, what would you recommend to those who can't afford or do not own a hot glue gun?
also could you upload a template that people could use(for the skin as the one i have now is crap and the hands or feet come out wrong)?
👍: 0 ⏩: 2
pheleon In reply to Autumn-Star-Dreamer [2013-01-28 02:01:30 +0000 UTC]
You can actually sew on the hair, but it just takes a much longer time. That could be a way to save on money... but a glue gun is really a good investment, considering it only costs 7$ and can be used for many years for many different projects.
I have a free plushie pattern in my gallery (I'm too lazy to find the link, so just search around in it)...although it doesn't have a foot pattern, nor are there hands..but the head's pretty nice!

thanks because im sick of my plushes having either 1 triangle hand, 1 foot or 1 hand longer than the other.

i just learning to make plushies and yours are amazing! so i have a question. what fabric/ colour would be the best for an anime plush more or less for making a white character?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
pheleon In reply to chanice0 [2013-01-28 01:57:55 +0000 UTC]
If by 'white' you mean 'caucasian', I'd suggest the colour 'chamois' or whatever light skintone you can find in stores.
But if 'white' meant actually white like an Ulquiorra or Orochimaru type of character, I'd suggest using an off-white colour like 'alabastar', just to give it some tonal variety especially if their outfits are already white. (hope that wasn't too confusing!)

I really admire all your work.
How long did it take you to get this good?
Would you mind if i asked for some advice? I'm in a dilemma right now.. I bought a stock of felt last month and have been working on some projects, salvaging whatever old fabric i can and such, The first two plushies were simple ones, child's play. my third was mr mew from TWEWY and it was my first time working on a complicated pattern I did it in the end though i felt that it was shoddy work but people loved it. My most recent project is minako from p3p, my first foray into anime plushies which was the whole point i started plushing in the first place. It's been 5 days now, and i'm close to done. i'm in awe btw when you say you can finish many in one day. do you machine sew?
But i'm not exactly well off and while my mom's been supportive she did remind me very gently that i cant keep spending money to buy materials. I want to start selling the plushies to roll the money, but i have self doubts - there's so many others who are better, and i havent the faintest idea how to start. and my biggest strength is not skill or pattern making or whatever, it's just that i'm persistent. that's it.
Any advice? I'm waiting for my results now, that's why i have time, but in april college might start and i might not be able to do this anymore, so i wonder if it's even worth it..
sorry i know you're not on da to listen to sob stories..

It's sometimes hard to juggle school, work and other priorities, but if you enjoy sewing, try to save some time for it, even if it's only 15mins in your day. Honestly, there isn't much monetary gain with plushmaking. I take commissions to build up my portfolio and audience, but considering all the time put into a project and the stress of pleasing your client, it amounts to being paid minimum wage and sometimes (or often) even less. o_0
To give you an idea, I picked up a needle at age 9 and I've been sewing with a machine since 14...I'm 25 now, so it's been a long time! And yes, I do sew with a machine for some of the plush parts (it's a mix of both).
Basically, pursue the craft for the love of it. Once it starts feeling like a chore, or if it imposes too much pressure/expectations, then it's not really worth it anymore.
This is a really old journal entry that's a bit outdated, but it has some advice on starting commissions: [link]
Cheers

can you recommend the best material for plush bodies? 1 best for painting on eyes, another that i can just stick on eyes? which is better, velour or fleece or lycra?
also, any tips on clothes? i'm a beginner, i just started out with two plushies..
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
pheleon In reply to ShamineSaif [2012-12-31 22:15:12 +0000 UTC]
I like lycra for painting, and craft velour for iron-on eyes.
My only advice for clothes is to look at your own-- see how they're made, and then repeat in a small scale. Good luck.

Sorry if I take the liberty of writing to you, but I wanted to at least try to ask you.
I saw this plush you made and I found it really cute, you are amazing (I love your every single plush, really!)
So I was wondering if, by chance, you were not willing to make one for me.
It would be great to have one of Yoite ("Nabari" manga) but does not exist as original gadget. I'd keep it really, you do me a great pleasure.
I live in Italy, but of course I would pay all shipping.
This is my e-mail for your response: lilith-3@libero.it (or you can write to me here, of course)
Sorry again for this proposal a bit 'cheeky ... But I was really disappointed to find that there were no plush original Nabari, and when I saw your so perfect I literally lit.
Obviously the price is totally your choice, we are also close to Christmas so I can ask any bonus as a gift.
Your plush are perfect, they are considered as those found in shops.
This is Yoite anyway. You can not see but he has blue eyes:
