# About me

So I'm an MLP:FiM fan obviously. Started following the show around December and was blown away by the sheer amount and quality and fanart being produced. I decided around April that since the interseason hiatus was coming up, I was going to pick up a pencil and learn how to do art in time for season two. I've spent the past few months grinding my skills up and plan to keep doing so in the future.

I don't have a habit of faving every image I like, but I do save every such one; so just for the record, pretty much all of the sketches you put in scraps are in my reference folder for poni anatomy. Like 60 out of 90 pictures in there are yours and counting.

incidentally, are there any particular guides you can point me towards, particularly on sketching? I notice in the later ones you do a lot of muscle analysis and true horse anatomy

That Weatherly book I linked was probably the single biggest influence. I just took a really hard look at the way he sketched and shaded and tried to consciously imitate it. The way I sketch now is a bit different, but it applies some of the techniques I picked up from observation.

I suggest looking at lots of different artists and focus on their sketch work. See what some of them have in common and which things they do differently. Borrow techniques from many different places and combine them into something distinctive and personal.
