I know this is a different perspective, but I don't put erotica in the same category as pornography. See, with pornography, the main negative side-effects stem from discouragement of the imagination when it is overdone, and then also idealization of fake body types. However, in the case of erotica, the imagination plays an active role, and is even exercised, which has the opposite effect---a positive effect. Especially since we tend to think about women we know in our lives that meet the description, rather than some actress who has done questionable things to her body. So, erotica does the opposite things to the main drawbacks of conventional pornography.

I tend to agree with you, but I don't want to come off to anyone as being cocky about my writing. I try to debase it and depreciate myself as much as possible in an effort to prevent myself sounding conceited in any way. I like to think that what I write is fun and imaginative, and I'm glad that there are people out there who enjoy it. I try not to kid myself too much, though, and start to think that I'm writing real stories. These things, as several people have mentioned, are pretty tame compared to what's out there, and in actuality are not very well developed at all. There's little to no character development, nor is there any real substance. A small buildup to the transformation/expansion, detailed description of it, and then a one-paragraph, cliche, wrap-up. But, it's fun to do, and I think it serves its purpose. I may have found my niche in this community...
Either way, thank you for your kind words about my stories. I tend to agree with you, but I try not to let myself agree too much, if you know what I mean...

I'm against debasement and depreciation. I believe that other people talk bad about us more than enough, and we shouldn't talk bad about ourselves. We should have a sort of blind faith in ourselves, paired with a perpetual and strong desire to grow forever. That way, we become better and better, and others inevitably benefit.
The stories that I have read and anjoyed have been "real" in my opinion, because they aren't so much about some plot that was created in some complex way. They are about painting a picture of something fascinating that picques the curiousity and titilates the reader.
Please understand, I am saluting for your alleged tameness. It is that very quality that is why I have enjoyed some of your stories. The hardcore stuff greatly turns me off at best, and at worst sickens and disturbs me. I mean, scenarios in which something fascinating happens and the person more or less consents to it, fine. But anytime you bring pain, torture, rape, or other such things, beyond something like spanking or other such things that are much less harmless by comparison and are typically accompanied by consent, I move on and stop reading the work. Why? Because entertaining fantasies of such nature is unhealthy and promotes such things. Even the idea of breaking a winged woman's wings is just so poetically and psychologically wrong to me that I can't read any further (I just encountered a story like that.). And why should I? To be supposedly entertaining by dark and inhumane treatment to a human being (or something that is basically such)? Sir, I must say, that I think deriving pleasure from such fantasies is vile, repulsive, and perhaps even evil. :rant:
Well, anyways, you do paint a picture, and develop characters adequately for the length of the stories you are writing. And while you may end with easy cliffhangers, many great writers have done that, and the ending isn't what's important about the pieces. What's important is the mood, the fantasy, and titilation of your reader that you create. It's the same as creating a good 2-dimensional artwork---you're communicating something to the audience that they share in.

Well, something tells me that a simple "thank you" might not suffice here. I do however appreciate your eloquent reply, and your compliments. I also appreciate the fact that you have, in a very well-written fashion, elevated the importance of what I do. In fact, you may have even swayed me to view my stories in a different light! I try very hard to make use of the elements of good writing, even though I am writing "erotica", and not a New York Times bestseller. Someday, perhaps, but not now. In the mean time, I'm quite content to write for such a small audience, devoted though they are.
I'm glad that you see a deeper meaning and purpose, maybe even value, in the kinds of things that I write. It makes me think that perhaps I'm not just a twisted pervert, but something of an artist. Though, having seen what passes for art these days I'm not too sure that's a crowd I'd like to lump myself in with. Either way, I shall continue writing, and I don't really intend to change much of my style or direction. I write for myself as much as for anyone else, and as such I don't see any need to do anything different. Though some might like to see it, I won't do a TG piece. By the same token, I won't do any futa pieces, nor am I likely to do any giantess or SW stories. Not that there is anything wrong with 'some' of those, but they're not my thing, and I won't spend my time on them.
That being said, and my previous statements notwithstanding, I do have to admit my little secret: I do think that I'm a pretty decent writer. Not wonderful, or anything of the sort, but to be honest, there are quite a few very popular TF writers that I think are pretty awful. I see alot of their work when I look at the favorite's lists of people who fave some of my stories. I suppose though, 'to each his own'...

Well, I consider myself an artist, and am quite proud of it. In fact, that is my passion---to create art, stories, and graphic novels/comics, the synthesis of the two. I like indentifying myself as such, and I agree that some stuff that's called art these days isn't amazing, but that's why I make my stuff good so that I work to promote what I do like. Glad you're doing your stuff for yourself, too, because that's important. I'll be reading. Thanks for listening to my rant.

Thanks for all the feedback and critique, it's always nice to know what people are thinking! I'm glad you like my stories, and I appreciate your comment about "breaking the mold". My intentions when I started writing these was not necessarily to shake up the tf world or break the mold in any way. I actually started writing just as a way to put an idea I've always had down on paper, and I decided later, on a whim, to put it up online. So far, though, the response has been huge, and I think I have a decent, if at least growing, fanbase.
I think I know what you were getting at with the wasp thing, but I was just trying to write a story. I didn't really intend to pull any socio-biological implications into it. I just enjoy the writing!
Again, thanks so much for the compliments man. It's always nice to hear that someone likes your work. I've had a bit of a dry spell as of late, but hopefully I'll be able to get another one written soon. It's just that between school and work there isn't a great deal of time available.
One more thing; I decided to take your idea of having a guy watch the girl change and run with it. I got a few good suggestions from some of the people over on the Process board, and once I can get this naga/mouse story off and running, your idea is up next. It will probably be awhile, but I really liked the idea ,and I think it'd be bun to write.
