basically it's just lines and different pressures from your hand i hardly ever use drawing pencils. you just have to develop a style that's your own and sick w/ it

well when drawing portraits it is important to really look at your photo. knowing thier flaws is what makes a person really beautiful! and draw what you see. really. and always take your time and don't be afraid to do it your way
