Thanks for you comment on "Death That Brought Me Life" [link] It is really appreciated. I actually did take several pictures and put them together in order to get a clearer picture. So that is why the border is all whack. But I like it that way.

hey! I read your journal entry, and I want to explain to you something...
when it says someone has downloaded it, it doesn't mean they loaded it to their computer.. downloading is just another option of viewing the poetry. it just shows the text instead of all the comments and stuff. and for some writing, you have to download it or you can't see it.

Thanks for the comment on INTO THE NIGHT.

It was very simply made using a cheap [free download!] photoediting program [PhotoImpact].
1. Build the picture with Autoshapes - takes time but if you experiment as you go along it's fun.
2. Convert to black & white
3. Convert to negative
4. Use "Glow" effect

That makes one element.

1A Set up a blank page and import this element.
2A Duplicate this object
3A Flip this horizontally
4A Change the hue
5A Position this next to the first

Do the same for two more duplicate, changing the hue each time. Finish by cropping excess space and save.

Add lighting from lighting effects menu.

It all looks long-winded - but truly it's VERY low-tech. The secret is to enjoy the process and take advantage of any interesting effects which crop up.

I got my tat done at a small local tattoo place in TX, where I live. I had met the artist earlier at a party, so it was nice to at least know something about him. He designed the tat, too, with my help. It's based on a pheonix picture I found several places on the web. Did it hurt? Hmmm... hurting all depends on where you're getting it done. Mine was on my lower back, lined up with my spine. It hurt more when he was doing the fleshy part than where the spine was. The worst pain was no worse than a beesting (or less) for me. However, I foudn that the 2 weeks of healing afterwards were more painful, especially in the beginning. You've got this big open wound, you know? It hurts, and you have to put lotion on it and take care of it. It's well worth it in the end. I love my tat.
