Well then that's a converter, not a source. Although wouldn't that kind of... take away the energy needed to, you know, keep blood flowing? Or does it use the kinetic energy from the flow of his blood itself? Now I'm intrigued...

It uses blood-flow and myoelectric signals (the tiny currents that tell your muscles to move). As I understand it, the body adapts to the increased need for blood pressure (and besides, in Adams case his heart has already been augmented with artificial tissue, so It's probably more capable of creating greater pressure than a regular heart.) There is an existing system out today that uses a tiny turbine to piggy-back off blood flow, and provide power for an artificial pacemaker. But it's rather big and unwieldy. Still, proof of concept.
