I tried Blender at first too, but I found 3ds Max easier to render with, and I rendered my last 2 or 3 posts using it. The rendering takes forever though.

Oh I don't pose in Max, I set up my scenes in XPS so I'm just using XNALara models. I export the XPS scene to Max, set up the lighting in there (the hardest part imo), and then render (which takes anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours depending on the quality and resolution you are rendering at and the speed of your computer).

If you do, Lofty's Tools should help you out a lot when you need to fix a model's materials in Max. I also recommend watching some lighting tutorials, getting lighting right is really annoying and tedious. There are different renderers you can use in Max, which will give you different lighting options. Personally, I used the Mental Ray renderer, but there's also the VRay renderer available. I haven't made a render in a while due to lack of alone time, but if you have any questions you can message me and I might be able to help you.
