# About me

Hello! I'm writer and (very) amateur artist, and I'm exactly the sort of sad person that thinks this DevID is hilarious.

I go through phases in my life, usually based around what I'm reading, writing and researching at the time. The current phase is ancient Egypt, and it's lasted on and off for . . . oh . . . twenty-five years. The mania normally lurks below the surface, but I'm currently working on a book involving Egyptian characters and magic, and that gave it an excuse to run wild. Mea culpa.

Hello, darlin'. I do check this sometimes, but I've been so busy with book stuff, I haven't got any time for drawing! I think of you, though. I hope everything is going well!

I should email you more. I understand no time for drawing. My work drains me to the point where when I get off work all I want to do is fall down. My poor muse is as burned out as I.
Things are going...well, not so good but I am doing my best to force some good from it. I have friends in need, some dire need, of some support.  Doing my best to help them while not falling apart my own self. We can but try.
Hope things are going good for you. Nice to know you think of me, i do the same of you. Best of luck and take care.

Hi! I'm so sorry I haven't been around lately. I've been focusing so much on my original writing that I've had almost no time for drawing, let alone DA.

I'm having a pretty good summer, but spending most of it working. How about you?

TheJokerha In reply to 2138 [2013-07-15 12:18:11 +0000 UTC]

Great to hear from you. !
That's so cool that you have the writing muse inspiring you like that. Keep the fires burning. I'd be curious to see what you come up with if you feel like sharing.

Lots of turn over and changes at my job, which is occupying all my energies these days. Our CEO left and now there is a power vacuum and every one is scrambling and grabbing for power. Nobody knows who is going to stay, go, or where those of us who do stay will end up working and located at. It's very ..troublesome.Its like freaking Game of Thrones here, with less hot naked women. But better hygiene.

Hope things continue to go well for you ! Keep in touch, please. miss you when your gone.

Heh, songs been stuck in my head. not that I think you "put on the red light." Just over sharing and trying to get your attention. Hope your doing well! Tell Maw and Colby that The Joker says "Hi"

Aw, that's sweet of you. Though if I tell them that, Maw will spend the whole day sitting on the bottom of the river with a harpoon gun. How about I tell them a friend was asking after them instead?

That works! Don't wanna scare Maw. It's funny, one of the few people joker actually likes is scared of clowns.
Hope your doing well! Thinks have been nuts for me but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Joyeux Noel, Mistah J. I'll do that. You take care of yourself and have a great holiday, you hear? Although it would be nice if Gotham was still standing at the end of it so, y'know, don't go overboard.

[link] is where you can buy one. They range in price from $12 shark teeth to $425.00 museum quality fossils and everything in between. But you could own one if you like. If I knew where to send it, I'd make it a Christmas present for Maw's creator.
Did you ever see this? Joker likes sharks, which is one of the reasons I had him take a liking to Maw.

Awww, thanks for the link! I might indulge myself and buy one of the cheaper ones at some point; I know you'd never guess this, but I might kind of have a thing for sharks.

And I know, I miss it too. But at least we had it for a while, ne? Plus, the characters surely aren't going anywhere. For me at least, I know Maw is gonna be bugging me for a long time to come.

MangaRaven In reply to 2138 [2012-01-16 23:30:36 +0000 UTC]

Okay, so I did this name meme journal thing and my "Iraqi name" according to the thing would be Endicaunt. Now I actually want to make a character from that name. To the question.

What race do you think would match up with that kind of name? I keep thinking African or Egyptian.

Hopefully school won't conquer my life utterly this semester like it did last semester so I can be able to chat with friends like you more often. ^w^

2138 In reply to MangaRaven [2012-01-17 00:27:40 +0000 UTC]

That's a pretty general name, so there's a lot of options. Two things immediately come to mind (these are just thoughts to build on, obviously)--Italian and Babylonian. Italian because the 'caunte' suffix or similar turns up sometimes in old works like Dante's Divine Comedy. (One of the demons guarding the Malebolge, for example, is named Rubicante). And the structure of it reminds me of a more modernized version of Enkidu, the homunculus animal-man from from the Epic of Gilgamesh.

There's also post-medieval English, if you want something a little closer to home; linguistic slippage could let you argue that it's derived from Endicott, the Old English boy's name. The name "Caunt" itself is Norman, post-1066, meaning a song or a chant.

Honestly, there's plenty of things it could trace to. I wouldn't say Egyptian, though--at least not ancient Egyptian. The -au vowel arrangement is atypical--especially since our own interpretation of Egyptian names is guesswork at best, what with critical vowel failure in the heiroglyphic text--and there's no roots in it that I can find leading to the typical Egyptian naming methods. (I wouldn't recommend taking that to the bank, though; I'm still an utter rank amateur in Middle Egyptian.)

If you're going for likely historical accuracy, I'd say English, Norman, or possibly Italian. If you're running a little more mystically-inclined, try Babylonian, Sumerian, or Akkadian. The latter three don't correspond as well as the former three, but you can make an argument that it's an adaptation of the original name.

Hope that helps.
