Well, I started off drawing the four elements everybody thinks of as obvious (Fire, Water, Earth, Air). I then thought about how Ice and Rock are on the same level. Then I added Sound and Electric because they just seemed to fit. I later added Element as the "Patron" element and declined the base elements in Light and Dark. From there I used my imagination to think of The others.

Not really. This was a belief in many ancient civilizations before they made any actual scientififc discoveries, so they thought that the elements were gods.
