DAFrostbite: If Jervis Tetch a.k.a. The Mad Hatter was declared mentally sane during his stay at Arkham Asylum (soon after his first outing as a villain) and moved to a small rural town some time later, how different would the guy's life be if he never returned to Gotham City?
And how different would it be if Jervis didn't contact anyone there either?
Note: The alternate scenario here could happen in any DC continuity. ANY DC continuity. Also, if you want, the rural town can be Smallville.

And where would the Gotham City police detain Batman?
Who would Bruce Wayne (Batman) talk to on the phone after being contained in a cell by Gotham's Finest?
What would the Bat Family’s reactions be if they knew that the Dark Knight himself had murdered the Clown Prince of Crime?

They would detain him in a special wing of arkham, Bruce wouldn't attempt to escape, but they would go overboard trying to keep him.
They would study his mind for ages.
It would be interesting to see gordon or a new character seek waynes help like Hannibal Lecter from silence of the lambs. While wayne is held in arkham.
I think most of the bat family would understand why he finally wiped out the joker. A couple would be disappointed but they would understand.
of course they would be hiding cause if wayne revealed himself then they would figure out who were the robins.
