# About me
Hello and welcome to my gallery! My name is Andrea (if you cannot tell by my username), and I live in Rego Park, New York. I first came to DeviantArt about four years ago by a friend. Back then my username was dinogirl03. During high school, I realized how immature my account was, so I tried to fix it. But then, I discovered my true calling: ceramics.I did ceramics when I was younger at an art camp and I forgot how fun it was. With the help of my freshman art teacher I made an awesome dragon! She said to me that she knows someone with a kiln to fire it, so I gave her it for the summer. I was very excited to get back to school to glaze it. But when I returned, I found out she left the school forever with the dragon that I made.
Life's a bitch.
A year later, a new art teacher started working at my high school, and she was very nice, and once I graduated, she became one of my favorites and also one of my dear friends. That sophomore year we did not use clay until the end of the school year; I made a wolf/coyote piece that I wanted to fire, but the clay could not be fired due to it being a non-firing clay; I painted the piece with acrylic paint, in the favorite of my ex-boyfriend. It came out great, and I loved the whole process of making, drying, and painting that I wanted to do ceramics as a hobby. Alas, it was not until the end of the junior year until she started integrating clay into the curriculum indefinitely. At this time, I started to look for an art studio to express myself on the weekends. My mother helped me look for a ceramic studio in walking distance from any subway station, and to our success, we were able to find one.
One of the first choices was the BrickHouse Ceramic Art Center in Long Island City, and I immediately fell in love. My mom and I visited it during their open house, and when we walked in, I immediately felt nostalgic over the smell of clay dust and the sound of pounding clay.
This is where I belong.
To this day that's where I go to make art and unwind.
One last thing... Do not try to look for my old account. It is long gone.
