Seeing someone that animates pushes me even further, I am going to be an animator as well, is it hard work? I want to be an anime animator. Can you be an animator and voice actor at the same time

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Animator-who-Draws In reply to BrittanyTucker [2009-05-08 19:22:09 +0000 UTC]

Animating is long work but very rewarding, seeing your work in motion. If you love drawing A LOT like 8-10 hours a day then you'll have no problem with animation being work. I do terrible voice acting. I'm too shy for that >_< I can only do demos. If your serious with voice acting I heard you need acting classes for that professionally plus it would hurt your animation either since animation is basically an acting drawing. Whao I've rambled on too much, good luck on your art!

O_O wow thats really cool! is animating people difficult? and is it illegal to use a song for my intro? i wanted to use "crosswise" by t.m. revolution(its japanese) and i dont wanna get arrested or something...

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Animator-who-Draws In reply to ember248 [2009-09-08 03:26:35 +0000 UTC]

No Not really. Depends on what the action is you're animating. Yes it is illegal to use a copyrighted songs. You can get arrested, get a fine, plus it's just plane wrong to use. Useless it's like an intro or your demo reel, that works, but you absolutely can't make any money off of something with other people's work in it like a song. Hope this helps.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

ember248 In reply to Animator-who-Draws [2009-09-10 03:06:04 +0000 UTC]

O_O oh jeez, thank you for clearing that up for me! i wasnt planning to make any money off of it, i just have way too much time on my hands, so i was thinking about making the series. so, how DO i get a song for my intro then? you know... without getting arrested and stuff(haha if thats even possible)... thanks for your time!

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Animator-who-Draws In reply to ember248 [2009-09-10 04:45:52 +0000 UTC]

Well if you're working on a mac just import the music from your itunes to the program your using to make the animations.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

ember248 In reply to Animator-who-Draws [2009-09-11 02:01:50 +0000 UTC]

im on an hp. so if i just buy the song i can still use it on my intro and it will be safe? i was planning to put my shows on youtube, so is THAT illegal if i use the song then? i really apologize for all these questions, hahaha you can just tell me to leave you alone if im starting to bug you. but this is all i wanted to know. thank you so much.

do you read john k's blog? (john K is the crator of Ren & Stimpy, George Liquor, etc.). probably the best resource available today for animators trying to regain the lost appeal of traditional animation.

johnkstuff[dot]blogspot[dot]com
[link]

small summary I wrote elsewhere...

"One of, if not the biggest name in contemporary animation, John has devoted his life to taking the control of animation back from the business executives and returning it the animators, which began with his created Ren & Stimpy Show, and later moved online. His blog features interactive discussions on animation topics, selections to improve your characters, appeal, design, staging, and everything else under the sun related to cartoons, along with occasional reader creation feedback. John promotes the long lost animation of the late 40's, of solid body shapes, less talk & funny walks. Without a doubt, one of the best resources available, unlike anything in the past. I personally check & read his blog several times a day, as do many other hundreds of people, and highly suggested to get an edge on the competition with this resource that would otherwise not be available."

I like your style. You've got really good volume and shape to your characters... so many of today's animated shows lack it, and so few feature-length animators have it now due to the boom in 3D animation. I can't wait to see more from you!

I'll be finishing up the pencil tests on my first film within a few weeks as well...
