I don't like it...

I LOVE IT!

Just seeing Derby drawn in another style is incredibly helpful. I was actually curious how you were going to draw her since the way I drew Derby, her eye and her mouth are really far apart, but your style is at your best when the corner of the mouth is virtually on top of the eye.

JunkieTso In reply to AnonymousSlash [2016-11-17 00:01:42 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it would definitely be a challenge for me to draw her vertically bc since an icon has a 50x50 size limit, she'd end up too small ;o;
so I figured I should draw her in a diagonal position hahah I hope it worked up well enough!

and thanks so much! I'm really glad you say that :')

AnonymousSlash In reply to JunkieTso [2016-11-17 00:21:06 +0000 UTC]

Well it's not just that you drew her in a diagonal position that's interesting, but that you rearranged parts of her face.

Partially to make room for the 50x50 limit you shortened her face by like an eye's length and shifted the eye down next to the triangle mark which also shifts it closer to the mouth allowing you to create that cheek line below the eye that's pretty powerful in your style of drawing.

At least with the way I drew it it'd be pretty hard to for the edge of the mouth to reach the eye, at least without appearing ridiculously exaggerated to the point of looking unnatural.

I actually may have to play around with how you proportioned her for a bit lol

JunkieTso In reply to AnonymousSlash [2016-11-17 02:23:29 +0000 UTC]

yeah, true! I also tried to adapt it to my style instad of just flat copying it hahahah glad ya noticed all those little details! ^^

and ooh, I think her original proportions are nice, I don't think that if you stretched a bit more of her smile it would look unnatural

and good luck with it!!

AnonymousSlash In reply to JunkieTso [2016-11-17 07:24:57 +0000 UTC]

lol I don't mean just stretch the smile a bit, I mean stretch the smile where the corner of the mouth is right below the eye. I'm not sure how that would work and still look natural at least from the front view. Might work from a 3/4ths or side view though.

oh that depends on how you do it! I can think of some ways it would work haha ofc your taste also matters, but I think it's possible for it to look good, ya

No problem, Your style is really good. I can't even begin to comprehend how you shade the way you do.

Like really, I didn't know magic was a type of traditional drawing format XD

KovinAndBlue In reply to AnonymousSlash [2016-10-06 13:08:32 +0000 UTC]

Aww, thanks! I'm always trying to improve, though. Plus, school always makes it LONG. Ugh. xD

AnonymousSlash In reply to KovinAndBlue [2016-10-06 21:16:09 +0000 UTC]

I've only recently started drawing myself, and am not very good, so I'm not even sure how you managed to shade like that using colored pencils?

You somehow blended the colors in your shadows better than I could probably do in PS/GIMP XD

I can certainly relate to school eating all your time.

Anyway, do your best at school and keep up the good work!

Oh, that's fine! Also, eh, practice. LOTS AND LOTS OF BLENDING RANDOM COLORS TOGETHER, I guess. xD

Aww, really? Thanks.

Yeah... I need to catch up on work... procrasination kills... big time...

Thanks!

No problem, you have a great style. I enjoy how you draw curves (curves referring to squiggly lines, not "the female form" XD).

Your curves always seem to look bigger and go farther than what I would expect the curve to be, but because of it, your drawing has a softer cuter appearance to it.

Keep up the good work!

Wow, this was a super nice comment!!
I'm really happy you like my lines, they're definitely my most self-conscious feature of my art, so
to hear someone say they like it really means a lot to me!

Thank you! I hope I'll continue doing well!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AnonymousSlash In reply to Squididdle [2016-08-04 06:42:13 +0000 UTC]

Just curious, when you say self-conscious do you mean in the sense that you are embarrassed about how you draw your curves or that it's something you've intentionally focused on? I hope it's not the former

AnonymousSlash In reply to AnonymousSlash [2016-08-05 02:11:49 +0000 UTC]

I like the shape of your lines. It gives your art a unique style.

If you are not happy with how you line your drawings, it might not be the shapes, but it might be that the line thickness isn't varied enough?

No problem.

Your style reminds me a lot of PennylessHobo .

Β I'm curious whether you pulled any inspiration from his character, Taffy, or if it's just coincidence (or I'm just the only one who sees it XD )

and thanks for the reply.

I've always appreciated your style (Though I've only seen the half of your gallery that's SFW), and I've appreciated the design of Mina Draco for quite a long time so that fav was long overdue.

Keep up the good work!
