About Mama Greece
[ Click here for more headcanons on Greece and her relationships]
I guess Mama G is what you might call an extreme case of tsundere. She values her freedom more than anything and is fiercely independent, so she has a lot of trouble getting along with others (especially empires who want to add her to their collections). She's had social issues since she was very small and has always struggled with pulling herself together. Her city-states all have a fierce independant streak as well which makes it difficult for her sometimes- but she likes to think she thrives on conflict.
Despite this, Ancient Greece is very absent minded when it comes to the rest of the world. She spent so long fighting Persia that she didn't consider the rest of the world a threat... even after Macedon totally shattered her impressions of him when he took over, she still didn't see Rome conquering his way Eastward until it was too late.
I guess as an extension of this she tends to walk into walls or trip over herself sometimes. XD
Contrary to popular belief, she can't stand cats. Even though she's an annoyance to good friends with Egypt, the latter's obsession with cats among other odd quirks is why she's kept at arms length. She also never wanted to be a mother and is still coming to terms with her "feminine side". Ancient Greece can easily be one of the most misogynistic people you'll ever meet. Despite this, she still has a fondness for her son, if a little disappointment.
She's become so culturally "entangled" with Rome that modern people often cannot tell them apart (mostly because Rome loves to steal copy all of her stuff. He can't help it, that's just the way he works.) and often mix up some of their cultural contributions. Mama G will flip out a little if you call her clothing a toga. She also has a much stronger preference for idealism than Rome (meaning that while he will draw every little wrinkle and wart on a portrait, she will just draw bishies.)
[RPer's notes]
Hi, this is Hapo57 . I thought I'd go out on a limb here and make an ask account.
I am a fourth year Classics major with a minor in Linguistics. I've taken four semesters of Ancient Greek: the dialect I'm learning is Attic, which would have been spoken in Athens. I don't know any other dialects yet, but I know a little about some of the differences between them. Mama should know all of the dialects, but hey, I'm only human. XD
I've taken several courses on Ancient history (focusing mostly on art and archaeology a good 70% of my free time researching (and the rest drawing stupid comics about Ancient Greek City-States ), but I still won't get everything correct on the first try, haha.
I have tons of Ancient Greek City-State OCs, but I'll try my best not to keep shoving them into this account because it will probably bother people... but some things can't be explained without them.
Apart from school, I've had a life long interest in ancient mythology and cultures. I was more interested in Egypt as a child, but my interest has been renewed and I've been 'rediscovering' ancient Greece. :3
I know that Mama Greece is supposedly ~"canonly"~ the Byzantine Empire as well, although be warned that my brain is mostly in the "Ancient Greek" period (and I don't actually agree with that "fact"). I also tend to talk about Classical Greece, but this will give me a chance to get my butt in gear and start studying the Hellenistic/Roman periods. :3 Anyway please try to stick to questions about the time before 400 AD and I'll do my best to answer them!

If you do how many arguments did you have about whose wine is better?

Hey Hellas.
First of all, I'm almost done with my cover for my comic book about you! (The book, however, is sadly far from completion. Egypt and Y'hudah keep telling me to add things on to their book, which of course is before yours since they're older.)
Secondly, I have just a few questions (you may still want to answer them separately, idk):
What are your favorite vegetations to eat (as in fruits and veggies, no real classy way to say it I think)???
Do you prefer Sokrates, Plato, or A-what's-his-face (Alexandros' teacher)???
WHATS UP WITH ALL THE HERMS SISTAH??? (lawlz dirty mind)

No, no, to believe in something is to thrive, to create! What philosophers forget is while half of their seeds are planted in wisdom, the other half is planted in sorrow. You understand?
I doubt it was the intention of your heroes to end up there. You cannot question such things.
And if you insist on such an Afterlife, I may insist you come with me. You doubt yourself, Hellas?

If one forgets their gods, does the Nile cease its flow? Does the harvest continue to be the prosperity or devastation of her people?
You musn't be afraid of the plans in store for you. [pulls a little hair from her face, tucking it behind her ear]
Mm, the thought might seem modest to one with so many heroes...but to me, my people are fed and guaranteed the fruit of their labor. Life is beautiful, so why not relive it under the eternal gaze of Ra? With your children, and the ones you love--
But I'll press you no more. So long as you're laid to rest with consideration, I can hope for nothing more.
