A note to anyone who did not already know: badges (at least of the llama variety) can be given to anyone without diminishing one's own supply. Therefore they are a limitless currency, and one that can be disseminated freely. Did I say they were limitless? Well, in fact they are not quite limitless. Only one badge can be given to each artist by any given artist (and only after that artist has received at least one such badge of the type). Therefore the total global supply of badges (at least of the llama variety) that can possibly be given is the total number of artists on DeviantArt ^ 2 (that is squared). I recall the number of artists on DeviantArt being reported to be somewhere in the vicinity of 30 million. Therefore 900 trillion (nearly 1 quadrillion!) llama badges (at least) may be given, and so it can be presumed that that is the total theoretical quantity in circulation. If these badges should be considered to be 1 US cent apiece in equivalent worldly value, then that is 9 trillion USD that artists have at their disposal to affect change, and this currency we artists might perhaps allow to change hands so as to uplift us all collectively. Obviously, as there is more than one badge type, should this equivalency hold, more worth exists in the exchange of badges even than this value of 900 trillion USD. These are just a few things I hope you all will keep in mind going forward. Please do feel free to let me know if you have reason to believe that I am wrong in my determinations. Thank you for that. Thanks Tyler. Long Live the Earth! I mean, until the sun goes Red Giant and fries it to a crisp of course, then it will just be a bigger Moon. Will we ever come back, that is assuming that we survive for that long? I think probably, unless we have by then become sufficiently advanced to remove the Earth from harm, or prevent the harm from ever occurring.
