Woo, I don't come here nearly as often as I used to. I kinda want to get back into the stamp thing but it's dA, it's a bit of a dead horse by now.

I've been well. Cold as fuck here now but otherwise, not bad. Mom had a brain surgery a few months ago but she's a trooper, she was out running around again a month later.

How have you been? Hope you had a great Thanks Giving and stuffed yourself full of food, drink and whatever sunshine is left before winter is coming (man, season 8 needs to just get here already).

As for the other question, I'll try to explain as best I can:

Your profile shows that you're an ally and that tells me everything I need to know about what "category" (there aren't really categories but just for this convo's sake) you're in. You're not a christ-tard because being an ally means that while you might (and I use "might" because I don't know what beliefs you hold exactly other than you believe in Jesus) hold religious beliefs that are contradictory to what it means to be an ally, you still stand by the idea that a person's rights (civil and/or human) shouldn't be dictated by another person's belief(s). It basically tells me you're more interested in getting along with people and respecting them as individuals rather than forcing feeding them your religion.

"My rights don't end where your feelings begin". I don't know who said that, but it's something I've always stood by.

Safe to post here, but maybe not on Twitter. That'd probably trip up the security bots. I got suspended a few times, got some time-outs, some were deserved, some not so much. Twitter is a sensitive lil shit sometimes. More than dA.

Actually, now that I've reread your question I'd like to answer it anyway.

Yes, I'm for body positivity, but this also includes bodies that are what you refer to as "scrawny beanpole". While the anatomy of the majority of female characters are disproportionate, they're also unrealistic so can't really be compared to real bodies. However, that doesn't mean they can't be aesthetically pleasing, whether male or female, to some degree.

As for sexualization; why is that even an issue? You can't really control what a person does or doesn't fine sexually attractive, but you can control what sort of media portrays certain persons according to age and consent. Nor should we try to control it as this would be "thought crime".  I don't see any issue with people having mental sexual fantasies so long as certain fantasies aren't acted upon as they would infringe on a person's, child's or animal's rights.

And as for why do people sexualize female anime characters that are thinner, that's largely because our current societal idea of what beautiful is. A woman with relatively large breasts, clear skin (not fair/light skin, but clear, free of blemishes or hair), slender waist, large rear, flat stomach, big lips, etc. Smaller details change over time, such as brows, lashes, nails, body art, hair color/style, etc., but the "thin girl" era has yet to pass. Only in the past decade or so have we begun manipulating the media away from that unrealistic body image and into realistic female, and male, body images. For example, fashion moguls, such as Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors, have been hiring models that aren't what the media, or society even, would consider conventionally beautiful. There are more plus size models , older models like Daphne Selfe and Carmen dell'Orefice and Philippe Dumas , models with really dark complexions , models with really light complexions/albinism like Shaun Ross , models with both as the case is with Winnie Harlow . There's also models who don't fit the mold of "beautiful" like Stacey McKenzie , Caitin Stickels , Souffrant Ralph and Melanie Gaydos (her photos are amazing but warning, there's some nudity) to name a few. So it's not that unusual that people would sexualize female, even male, characters that aren't conventionally proportionate or realistic. There are even women who have tried achieving these looks like the real life "dolls".

Also, I think that as far as Japanese anime goes, they have their own perception of what beauty is and that usually entails someone with light skin, slender waist, round eyes, etc. so it's not really that strange that most of their anime reflects that. To the Japanese, they look Japanese and are Japanese by default, and people who watch these anime will automatically assume they are Japanese. So to them, this is the norm, the standard and we're the weird ones sexualizing these anime characters. Another thing, anime is about as big there as cartoons are here. It's mostly thought that only children or immature, childish people watch anime, read manga or cosplay.

No idea if that answered the question or not but that's my take on body positivity, artist renderings and sexuality concerning such.
