You're welcome... but does that mean you are not looking to make a sale?

jenntompkins In reply to BrantLafrenz [2010-09-29 02:07:38 +0000 UTC]
oh Im willing to make a sale, I just rather sell you the actual print than a print of a print.

Wall-mart makes prints now, I say have them(or a real pro.) make an actual print and I'd buy it as long as you asking price is reasonable

jenntompkins In reply to BrantLafrenz [2010-09-30 00:35:42 +0000 UTC]
but Id still rather just give you the actual intaglio print. it's much better when you can feel the emboss...etc
what's a reasonable price for you?
the image size is roughly 3in x 9in
and the rag paper size is roughly 8x9

$60-100.00
I can send a check to a PO BOX or "something" and could give you my mailing address than after you cash the check (minus the cost of a stamp I'd include in the print's cost) you could send it to me.
Simply put I'll just have to put in some extra faith in that you'd be true to your word, but that's not really to much of a risk. I'd just trust you blindly for no reason, and hopefully get the print .
If my asking price is to low let me know and sorry I probably wouldn't go much higher.

You are very welcome. I'm interested in your medium of art I'd love if you could explain to me in simple terms the technics you use.

Okay, let's see if I can explain this the best I can.
Lithography:
I draw onto a limestone slab, which is smoothed out. Then with oily or fatty drawing media, (grease pencil, tusche inks). Then the stone is hit with Nitric acid to burn the drawing into the stone. It makes a "root" in the stone to eventually be replaced with inks, and is ready for some printing.
Intaglio:
I use a zinc plate, copper is another type that can be used, and resists to "draw" into the plate. The resisted areas block out the Ferric Acid which eats away the metal leaves grooves for ink to be put in. Using a damp piece of paper on top, run the inked up plate through the press and the paper lifts the ink out of the grooves, and you have an image.

You explained Lithography perfectly, thank you. Just one more question, I have all the material you listed ...But do you dilute the acids, if so what ratio?

jenntompkins In reply to BrantLafrenz [2010-01-19 22:28:55 +0000 UTC]
one ounce of gum arabic to "x" amount of drops of nitric acid-
this is dependent on
(1) the amount of grease in the drawing, so for grease pencil #1 and #2 can take say 11 drops, where the #4 and #5 would "burn out" if you were to to hit it with 11 drops
(2) the grade of stone you have, so a yellow stone can't take as many drops as a gray stone.

I get what you mean, but it sounds like to me I'll need to take a course

jenntompkins In reply to BrantLafrenz [2010-01-25 19:31:13 +0000 UTC]
definitely... it's a little complicated, very finicky and expensive when it comes to buying the inks, and a press that is made for Lithography...

That's okay, a thanks in my opinion is something I have never expected out of life. It is just a unexpected plus if one is received or given, so thank you for your response. A delay only comes when held up by much more important things, I don't know, never mind.

You are very welcome, and thank you for creating worthy enough works for my favorites. Well as if I'm worthy of viewing beauty/structure, never mind my opinion, I'm too dumb.Or not awake yet
