Only non-restricted firearms are allowed to be transported visibly here. Restricted require a specific license to transport, and must be stored out of sight, typically locked in a case, in the trunk.
I'm actually a cat person myself... I've never thought much of living in Canada. |D

There are three types of firearms licensing in Canada - Restricted, Non-Restricted, and Prohibited. You can't own Prohibited at all; if you had Prohibited weapons when the law was passed, you could keep them, but you can't get them now. That would be any fully automatics, and various other military weaponry. Restricted is any small arms, handguns, most paramilitary weaponry, etc. And Non-Restricted are long-arms and most semi-automatic rifles.
I've been tested to own and use both Restricted and Non-Restricted, I'm just lazy and didn't send in my paperwork.
