I remember that you once did a stream on GoTR art, for an encounter - that part where you did the water surface + reflections. I'm wondering if you could tell me how did you do it? Need it for a piece.Β

for water textures, I have a brush for those, its a free psd brush from on here, i can find a link to it for you if you like -Β
as for reflectiosn of characters and things, I copy all of the layers of the thing i want reflected, paste them into a folder by themselves, merge all the copied layers together to create one image, and then turn it upside down onto the waters surface, warp it, and smudge it to the shape of the waters surface (still water will have a clearer reflection than unsteady water)

right? and from what i ACTUALLY did research on (this time at least lol) contenins are mostly duns, so Red dun seemed like . good choice, and theyre not uncommon in having splash markings. but we will see, i think ive annoyed the admins.Β

its definitely a more interactive sport based on muscle memory.Β
basically, there are 3 types of bows to choose from (i don't count crossbows, those are for the lazy hunters)Β
there are Compound bows ( the most complicated of the three, but the easiest to get used to) Recurve Bows, and Longbows which are your most traditional and one of the hardest to use.Β
also mixtures of the three but these are like the primary colors of the bow world.Β
I use a compound, its my child.Β
Basically,Β everything begins with your stance
Β
Once you've perfected the stance, which basically a whole lot of letter representation with your body, you have to figure out your comfort zone. your eye dominance versus your hand dominance, what kind of bow you need to coordinate with that, where your anchor point is (anchor point is where you pull your string back to insinctivley every time and basically burning it into your habits. )
and THEN its having money XD
Bows aren't cheap, and depending on which one you get, they get more expensive with every accessory.

But the more accessories you have, the easier it is to utilize your bow and the more accurate you are.Β
arrows are the frigging WORST to buy and if you're a beginner, you miss the target. alot. its just the way you learn and sight yourself in.Β
But when you miss you have the possibility to break arrows. which if you buy the correct kind can range anywhere from $5 - $12 PER ARROW
somewhere in the middle you learn all of the safety rules and the "absolutely do NOT under any circumstances" rules.

but yeah, i would say its a process.Β
I love it though. It is my second favorite sport to Skiing (which i obviously can't do in hawaii lol)
it definitely takes commitment. I've been shooting since i was 12, i've gone through 3 bows in the growing and learning process, and this most recent one i bought it, the arrows, and the accessories all with my own earnings. (my dad helped me with the first 2 because i was shooting competitively through 4H)
and this ended up being a college lecture i'm sorry

and then he sold it and i forgot about bows n stuff

i LOVE hog hunting. Javelina hunting back in AZ was a frigging SKILLLL
you had to basically be one of those little bastards if you wanted to get one.Β
they were wicked smaht
Hog hunting here in Hawaii is different, instead of being drawn for a tag, the hogs here are considered a nuisance and are free for the taking. no bag limit, no season.Β
just an age limit. they can't be young enough to have stripes.Β
now ELK hunting is my ultimate favorite.Β
the meat is so delicious and hearty, and the hunting itself, although it's one of the most difficult hunts, is SO amazing <3
my da and I went when I got drawn for my archery Bull Elk tag ( getting one of those is like winning the lottery)Β
Β and it was the most fun my dad and I have ever had, even thought I never got my bull.Β
Waking up at 3 in the morning, hiking 5 - 10 miles a day, just the sounds of the males bugling 100 yards from us and the cows calling back,Β
and omg learning to cow call was so FUN
i learned to do it without the little reed tool, was so proud.Β
on the first morning, we were sitting in some bushes on one of the more heavy trails, and a cow elk and her calf came about 12 feet from me, didnt smell me, didnt hear me, didnt see me. just ambled on by.Β

i don;'t think ive ever loved hunting more than in that moment.Β
and not for the shooting or the thrill of the hunt, but just for being one with my environment out there.Β
