Thanks for the watch. c:
Your traditional work has a lot of good qualities to it, I like.
By the way, do I know you from somewhere? I ask because I just posted up links to my sites on facebook.

Thanks! Yeah, I went to high school with you. For a year, anyway. I was home schooled and didn't start there until my junior year when you were a senior. I think I talked to you like, twice or something.

ah! I'm sorry I don't remember. if I saw you in person it might get things clicking again. Im terrible with faces and names. Mannerisms are what I remember.
Also, you've got a good chunk of skill considering your age. c: It'll be neat to see how that develops over time.

lol, don't worry about it! Honestly I only remember you because of your mad art skills.Β
Thanks! I really appreciate that! I'm also looking forward to seeing how it develops. How is school going?

Thank yo for the compliment. c:
School is going fairly well, all things considered. I'm on break currently. before that I was banging my head against the wall, I was so tired of school assignments, and just wanted to do my own things. School does that though, it's a huge time suck. I'm feeling better now that I'm on break. I just need to keep time managing better.

CharlySombreroWearer In reply to Manechen [2014-01-03 05:05:16 +0000 UTC]
Good to hear! I think... Β
Yeah I'm also on break, but I've been working plenty so it honestly doesn't feel like that much of a break. Your going to CCAD right? If I had decided to go the art route I think I would have ended up there. It looks like a fantastic school, but alas, I decided to go to UA for marketing.Β
Dude, that must suck. Doing art you HAVE to do gets obnoxious after awhile. Especially when it is then graded. How much gen ed stuff do you have to do? Or is it really mostly art classes?
π: 0 β©: 1
Manechen In reply to CharlySombreroWearer [2014-01-03 08:21:00 +0000 UTC]
Nothing wrong with marketing. c:
I did go to CCAD, and it actually is mostly art classes. even my psychology class last year was art based, so was the writing class, but I tested out of it. There are very few classes, if any, that they do not try to relate to art at least somewhat. there's art math classes. Though, they do have a math class dedicated around "everything you will ever need in the adult world." sorts of thing, they were advertising on the bathroom wall of all places.

CharlySombreroWearer In reply to Manechen [2014-01-03 17:38:47 +0000 UTC]
I'm honestly pretty excited about it, I'm just drudging through a bunch of gen eds right now.Β
I'm so jealous! I want to do my minor in graphic art, but I haven't gotten around to going to the college of arts and sciences and talking to an advisor yet. I guess that's the difference between an art college and a "normal" college. I do have to take calculus with business applications next year! Which just sounds absolutely wonderful. >.>Β
LOL the bathroom wall? At least lots of people use the bathroom...? haha!
π: 0 β©: 1
Manechen In reply to CharlySombreroWearer [2014-01-03 19:39:38 +0000 UTC]
You could probably even teach yourself some graphic design out of a book! I've found that a lot of the design principles cross over into other crafts. When I do graphic designs, I think a lot about how I handle illustrations, and apply what I know about illustration design to my graphics and layouts. So if you found something on composition or design principles or shape character, those could end up being pretty handy.
And yeah, the bathroom wall. I guess it works well enough. they hang them on the wall opposite the mirror though. And nobody washes their hands anyways. That's probably why I actually know it's there, because I do.
Heh
Also, I always liked math. And science. My business class in high school was one of my favorites. But alas, I like drawing more.

Good point! I've honestly been too busy to work on much art in any form lately though. Which really sucks. I miss taking lessons! I feel like I need someone to push me to do art on a daily basis, I get so unmotivated sometimes. And by sometimes I mean most of the time.Β
That's both disgusting and funny! Makes me glad I don't shake hands with people too often. XDΒ
Math/science has never been my thing. Ever. I find some aspects of science interesting, but when you get to the nitty gritty learning part I can never do it. With Mr. Wright?? That class was the bomb. I took it my senior year, and aside from a ton of annoying freshman I loved the class. Accounting was my favorite part. Which is weird considering how much I hate all things math, but accounting just makes a lot of sense to me.

Mr. Wright is one of the best people on the planet of Earth.
That is all.

Haha, I liked him because he was really fair and wasn't afraid to call anybody out on their crap. Have you had any bad experiences with professors so far?
π: 0 β©: 1
Manechen In reply to CharlySombreroWearer [2014-01-04 22:17:42 +0000 UTC]
Not particularly. I've gotten bad advice from some, but typically that's because their goals on a project are not the same as my own, and I just have to talk to them about what I'm personally trying to accomplish.

That's good! I ran into that problem with Mrs. Clark all the time! I still got A's, but it was annoying sometimes. She would just have her own ideas of how she would want one of my projects to turn out and most of the time it was not the same as my own vision.

Manechen In reply to CharlySombreroWearer [2014-01-05 06:20:12 +0000 UTC]
Yep, and EVERYONE will have a vision of what your idea should be, and their critique and advices will be geared towards it, and you have to understand where it comes from, why, and if you want to apply it.
