have you been at burning man?

CheshirePhotographer In reply to Michelle-Fennel [2010-05-20 23:13:46 +0000 UTC]

No I haven't. Thought about it, but I'd want to do something interesting myself, not just come to gawk. I do own a travel trailer now so it would be a lot easier for me to just do it. But it just seems to have gotten so big, like a three ring circus. How has the experience been for you?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Michelle-Fennel In reply to CheshirePhotographer [2010-05-20 23:44:11 +0000 UTC]

that's a good thing to have especially since the most rentals don't rent out their trailers to people they expect to go to burning man anymore. the dust is really sticky and even after cleaning like crazy you won't get rit of it completely.

i was lucky. i have great friends who go there for many (more than 10) years now. they even had a theme camp i joined. it was fantastic. i NEVER had been to anything similar. so creativ, so dream like, such a different enviroment, openess, friendly people, very helpfull, very inspiring. unfortunatelly for younger generations it seems to become more a party and drug experience which i think is really sad. but you can make it the experience you want it to be. the temple is special - so many emotions. i was moved like i haven't been that often before. the art cars, the art itself, the desert - all about it is quiet magical, a challenge and a great journey. i can just recommend to go. last year it was the very first time since they started burning man that it got smaller instead of bigger. probably because of the finance crisis.

well - if you think about going - it would be good if you know people who already had been and to go with them. there is a lot about the handeling of the desert, dust storms etc etc it is good to have someone experienced around. - but as i said - people are VERY helpfull. so even if you go by yourself - you won't be alone or helpless. there will always be an experienced person around happy to lend a hand

Thanks for the feedback on the event. I'm actually from the Bay Area so I know a number of people who go regularly.

The other thing I have a problem with is their photography policy, although it seems to be in flux at this very moment. The whole idea seems to violate the spirit of the event, and penalizes one set of artists in favor of all others...

what do you mean by " although it seems to be in flux at this very moment. The whole idea seems to violate the spirit of the event, and penalizes one set of artists in favor of all others..."?
what do you know?

oh...other subject - you wrote, you know something about publishing calendars?

Ah sorry, read this: [link] which was posted recently.

Yes Calendars...two options...print on demand = no profit, expensive but no up front investment. Traditional offset lithography in quantities of 1,000 or more = the way to go if you can sell at least to the break even point (usually a few hundred) Either through online printing firm or your local printer. Contact me at mm@mikemassee.com to discuss further, no point in cluttering up profiles.
