Yeah, I spent many a wasted hour (depending on who you ask) of my youth playing the Mario Bros. games and still enjoy them greatly as an adult (especially compared to what passes for video games that's out there nowadays.) I might take a stab at some of the other Nintendo characters if I ever get the free time, some SSB would be fun to draw.

Yeah, I don't think it's a waste of time either, but a lot of people think video games are. I get a lot of inspiration from the older NES/SNES era of video games, so I just use that as an excuse to play them and feel like I'm not slacking off, heh.
I still play my NES and SNES a lot too(sold the N64 though, most of those games are on Wiiware anyway except for maybe Goldeneye and Perfect Dark,) some of the best games ever made were on those systems.
I think Nintendo is still making some of the best games out there right now, like the 3DS which I really want, but I'm broke and I need to get a new computer before mine dies on me

When it comes to FPS, xbox360 wins hands down. But other than graphics and wicked first person shooters, there really isn't anything else the box has over Nintendo. When it comes to sports I guess, Sony and Microsoft split that field too. Then again, some sports games are WAY more fun on the Wii. I don't have a Wii, but my friends do.
Nintendo dominates in the handheld wars, even though Microsoft doesn't have one, they never fail in that field. Sure they had a flop with Gamecube, but other than that, everything they do is like gold. Their games have better stories, gameplay, music, and are just more fun. Sure their graphics aren't spectacular, but graphics are for graphic whores.

Another thing that I never see brought up in these sorts of discussions is the fact that although Nintendo doesn't deliver the best graphics out of the main video game companies, it does create the most unique ways to improve one's gaming experience. Back when Microsoft and Sony were talking about releasing their next generation consoles, the Wii had already been released with the ability of motion play, which wasn't developed for the Xbox 360 and PS3 four years later (Wii was released in 2006, Kinect and Playstation Move were released in late 2010). This also applies to handhelds with the new Nintendo 3DS, being the first of its kind to deliver the experience of playing a 3D video game without the need for 3D glasses. Makes me wonder how long it'll take for Sony or Microsoft to come out with a system/handheld with that kind of technology. And people who talk down on Nintendo's systems and handhelds have most likely never played a Nintendo system or touched one of their handhelds, because the experience of playing a Nintendo product is unlike any other, although the graphics aren't the best, that means most gamers who argue that Nintendo games are terrible because of the graphics buy games just for the graphics and not for the good stuff like a storyline or online play...
