Demosthenes is a traditional artist from Greece. He is very skilled at using micron pens and his highly detailed illustrations are certainly something to marvel at. He has a passion for architecture and landscapes and manages to create wonderful movement through the use of line variations. The textures he creates are fantastic and really add life to his illustrations.Β

I am now! Can't believe that I haven't seen any of his work until now. Amazing, glad I found out about him.

Yes, he's been quite forgotten during a long time. In France, a little publisher called "Mosquito" is re-publishing all his work. And it' astonishing. Modern. Beautiful. Just... wow. And your drawings are sometime very close to his. That's really nice !

Sounds great! But since my french aren't that good, I guess that I'll have to get his work from another publisher.
Thanks again for pointing him out, and for your kind words of course.
Perhaps you already familiar with Harry Clarke' s work as well, such a great illustrator that share some similarities with Toppi.

I didn't know Harry Clarke, but yes, in an old fashion way, he's close to Toppi's work. Maybe more "art dΓ©co" (don't know the word in english ! ^^). Since you're greek, maybe italian could be easier to understand for you. Toppi was italian. And maybe his work is published in Greece. I don't know how the comic's market is developped in your (beautiful) country. See you around !
