Haha awesome, I did one of these myself a few semesters ago for a class. Are you taking a digital media degree? I've seen that a lot of your work pertains directly to that particular field of study. (including this video!) The illustrator image you posted, or the drawing classes for example, all follow fairly close to what I've been doing.

I am not taking digital media...I'm actually majoring in Communication and getting a minor in what our art school calls "Two-Dimensional Studies"...basically drawing, painting, and photography. (But for me mostly drawing!)

What exactly do you want to be when you grow up??

Communication must have some similar classes then, I can see where a lot of crossovers would happen. I supplemented a few classes of two dimensional design as well, though my drawings weren't exactly the greatest.

Anyways! The dream is to be an environmental designer/artist for a company that works in 3D design. Whether that be for a construction firm, CG studio, Game developer, or so on. Most likely though I am going to start in graphic design. I already work in the field (sort of) designing business cards, logos, signs, and all that where I work.

It's awesome that you've got a pretty specific idea of where you're headed!
Plus, that just sounds like a fun job!

I want to be a graphic novelist (in my dreams...muahaha!)! And hopefully be able to feed myself with that...
BUT since this is the real world and we're going to have to be practical, I'm starting to wonder if I should be in animation instead of COMM, and if it's too late for me to switch. I think it is. I need something to do, though, to feed myself, so that I can make graphic novels on the side

Thanks! I haven't updated those in a long time, but I definitely have gained a much greater knowledge of Photoshop since making the first ones. I think I'll start updating those sooner or later with some newer tricks!

Please do! I just tried coloring my first pencil sketch on photoshop this morning...it turned out okay. Took forever, though. I can't wait to get faster and learn more tricks.
I just posted it if you wanted to see it. My favorite part was learning how to make a shading layer.

Count on it! I'm on a bus trip right now (lolwut) with only a laptop, but I've been sketching out some scripts to use for a few new tutorials. Also, peeked at your image you just put up and it looks great! I really like the initial sketch. One thing to note, the video I put up, I did it in the wrong order. (blame my out of control childish ignorance, I've learned a lot since then!) I came to find out if you desaturate your sketch layer, tweak the curves to a desirable amount, and set that to multiply on TOP of all the other layers and leave those as standard colors (with an otional multiply/overlay shading layer) it is a lot more effective. I only found that out a few weeks after I made that first video. It allows a lot more freedom with the colors underneath.
