Well 2016 is starting out with my computer finally dying. Sounds like the Hardrive went up in flames. I'm not surprised, since it went through a major fire. So downloading new work onto Deviantart is a no go till I scrounge up enough to get a Mac Mini to handle my photoshop suites.Β
The art hasn't stopped though, I've racked in hundreds of new drawings all inked, ready to go for coloring. My wife in her sarscasm has noted I should explore my water colors and oils on canvas and stop being a digital heathen, lol.Β
I laugh, I can't give up my Wacom addiction for smears of paint all over my pristine garage. Nope nope nope.
Well, hopefully I can get some work posted mid year. I know, what? But seriously rent, kids, bills...cut hours. It all adds up and slows down the real push to get back to singing in colors and form.Β
Hopefully be seeing you all soon, with a box full of new Kaiju and other sci-fi adventures soon.Β
Peace and love. Dez.

Well, I've been out for a very long time. Here's why. Back in September of 2014 I had the "Boles Fire" In Weed Ca, burn itself through my community. Pretty much destroying it all. Luckily I was home when this happened.
Being the first day with some good wind, I decided to air out the house. Spring cleaning, getting ready for winter and prepping the house was in order. My wife was busy handling her clients, and I was busy wrestling a couch into position. For weeks we've had smokey air due to forest fires happening in the county. so you get run off from those fires and your air quality is for squat.
But for some reason I noticed a change in the density of the smoke, and to my horror while sticking my head out the door, I could see a massive plume of smoke billowing in the air. Now at first I thought, somebody blew a water heater at the Elementary school at the top of the hill. Then I heard an explosion. Now I though "Oh shit!" Somebody is attacking the kids." That's the age we live in. Sad isn't?Β
Then when it stopped being white billowing clouds and black as night billowing clouds. I knew F**** we had a forest fire. California has had some bad years of drought now. Highly dangerous dry conditions. You just had to look at Mt Shasta to see how bare faced it was to know all Californians, whether they know it or not, are in some serious times.Β
I just went in combat mode. I lived in New Orleans and went through some bad Hurricanes growing up. So you just get this get moving attitude. No F***ing around mentality. I'm barking orders at my wife to get her going, and like hero she's out the door with no shoes on to warn our neighbors. I'm out the door to get the hose going.
You know being stupid. Like that was going to stop anything. But I wasn't going to make it easy, and plus I knew it was bad, but not enough to be pissing myself like any sane person on the other side of the hill watching the monster burn rushing into the community from the other side.
So I moved my wife's cars out of the driveway and got them lined up so we could escape, scrambled to get the hose working on the roof and my neighbor's lawn, roof and anything I could get wet. See I had a premonition this was going to happen. Since January I kept telling my wife we needed to get our papers ready incase of a disaster I knew was coming. Thankfully she listened. Everything was backed up, filed away, and ready to go.Β
When I saw the forty foot wall of fire coming. I said goodbye to everything in my home, pictures, computer, baby toys, drawings, beds, clothing, even my PS4 and 360. NOT THEM!!! NOOOOO.( It's funny now,but..) But my wife and son came first and when that kind of hell get visited on you, you learn the truth of material things against the reality of those you love the most.Β
So with everything turning into chaos, my young neighbor from behind our house comes vaulting over the fence. The guy next door to us... his lawn has fires breaking out. I felt my heart just beating out of my chest. By now it felt like an half an hour had passed, but it was only ten minutes. I saw the blazes catching hold. The eyes of my wife found mine, and I told her get our neighbor moving and get whatever it was she could save from our home into the van.
I walked into the house one last time and went to the kitchen and grabbed two fire extinguishers and walked out like a boss, a gunslinger calm as you could be. See if I panicked, which was what was happening I was going to give myself a heart attack. Then I wouldn't be of any worth to my wife and boy, who luckily was going to another school far from this nightmare at the time. Thankfully I learned to squash that fear a long time ago. Because seriously this was getting to be pretty awful. I made my way over and blasted the burns with the extinguishers, and then took a survey of the situation. Total FUBAR. Time to go.Β
So we got out and that was adventure in itself ( But I'm not going over it.). We went to my son's school. Got him. Thankfully a dear friend let us stay with her the night. We didn't have tv, or internet. As far as I knew our home was gone.Β
I got a call in the morning that my house was rumored to still be standing. How the hell did that happen. Well Asbestos siding and the planes just dumping fire retardant on top of it like crazy did the trick. We wouldn't be allowed near our homes for a few days. The world came to everyone's rescue and aid poured in. The community of Weed, really, really appreciated that. You guys should know how much that meant.Β
Our house survived the fire. BUT... because I had opened the windows to air the house out, well everything just blew in. I had my home tested and it might as well just burned down. The led poisoning is like 7000 particles per square centimeter. Everything was pretty much doused in led if it was soft material.. beds, couches, electronic equipment due to contamination. Β
So I'm going to wrap this up. Over the last half of the year, I've moved. Which turned out great because I'm living where I've always wanted to. We spent some time rescuing items and using abatement procedures to clean what we could salvage, and low and behold, my old computer was saved. So i'll be back to drawing and posting new material here as we go.Β
Thank you for all the follows and posts over all this time. Sorry I haven't been around to click on approvals or answer requests or thank the Birthday well wishes.
To be honest I'll be on off from here on out, but on more often than off is my plan as I see it.
So cheers.

I've noticed a few request for my artwork to be shared in other groups recently. I'm currently on the move throughout California and very far from my art desk. If you put a request in be patient I'll usually accept it. But at this time I am very rarely on Devaint art to check in.Β
New artwork is coming. But it's going to be awhile till I can get at my trusted Wacom and pen sets.Β
Thanks everyone for the follows. It's not in vain. Just finishing some jobs and hopefully in November new work will start appearing along side some old with better purpose.
Cheers and hope everyone is enjoying their summers.Β

Currently Neither due to travel. I am considering taking commissions after Spring Break has concluded, but this is up in the air. You can make a request and I'll check it out. If its something I want to draw I will and not charge for my time.Β
Just understand with "Requesting" work it tends to be spontaneous or a long wait due to being backlogged with prior requests, or my own projects tending to demand my attention.

That's fine with me, Β I was going to request my kaiju/OC Rage, but in two ways on the same picture, if you can do that
One version being the Rage normally seen, the other being Berserker, where orange fissures are around his body, his scales slowly melting, and steam erupting from his body. I don't mind waiting a while if travel's backing you up though ^^
