I hope you are doing okay, the tone of it all makes me assume you've had it rough. If you happen to log in and see this, I really do hope things go well for you.

hey! I wanted to know if there was a way to buy your lanturn light up plushie, my cousin is CRAZY for lanturns and we've both been going through a tough time but now that I have some money I wanted to give him something.
I await your reply
And let me just say, your plushes are amazing

PLEASE SEE THIS COMMENT!!!
I am in need of finding a plush of Tamama, (a character from an anime called Sgt Frog or Keroro Gunso.) Do you think you can make one?
I can't seem to find the proper size and look that looks similar to the character. If you message me back, we can talk about pricing and how the character plush should look. Thank you for reading this comment and PLEASE take this under consideration. Tamama is one of my favorite characters.

I heard that you make plush pattern with 3d program, How'd you do that?
I am interested in trying that method myself too
π: 0 β©: 1
Diffeomorphism In reply to projectsmash [2017-02-18 01:03:59 +0000 UTC]
Hey! I don't actually use a 3D program to generate the patterns. I usually just use the models to get a sense for what things look like from different angles, but that's about it. People have done it before though, it involves UV unwrapping a model in the right way, although I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly how that's done.

Oh you're fine! If you're interested in the Pokemon 3D models there's a bunch of them here you can download:Β www.models-resource.com/3ds/poβ¦
You can also download FBX Viewer for free to view them or you can download Blender and mess around with them.

oh hey! What sort of things did you need help with? Generally the more specific you can describe the issues you're having, the better I can help out.
π: 0 β©: 1
Camo93 In reply to Diffeomorphism [2016-11-22 15:58:05 +0000 UTC]
Well the biggest issue i have is about how do i do the patterns. I literally have no idea where to start with them and i haven't been able to find any help. Most likely i have to make them myself, but where do i start?
π: 0 β©: 1
Diffeomorphism In reply to Camo93 [2016-11-23 02:52:59 +0000 UTC]
Oh OK, so you're fairly new to the patterning process. That's fine! I have a bunch of patterning guides although I'm guessing you've already read through them. You can also find patterns for other creatures around the internet, I know people sell bird, bat, etc. patterns; examining how those are made can help out. Honestly though sometimes it's best to go trial-by-fire and try just messing around with it until you understand how things worked; that's how I started out with my first plush

Your guides are exactly the kind of rigorous pattern-making guides that I've always searched for! Β As an engineer, I really appreciate the application of mathematical principles to get consistent and (semi) predictable results. Β ^^ Β Thanks for making all of your guides!

Thank you! I do tend to treat plush-making as more of a science than an art, haha. Although perhaps the two are less distinct than I make them out to be

Hello! I've been wanting to make plushies for a while now, and I was so happy to have stumbled upon your guide! It really helped with getting me started on plushie-making
However, in what programs do you make your patterns? I've tried making simple patterns myself, but it's so frustrating since the programs I use don't seem to have ruler functions or a function to measure curves.
π: 0 β©: 1
Diffeomorphism In reply to Draginraptor [2016-09-27 02:59:29 +0000 UTC]
Hello! I actually just used Photoshop and just painstakingly estimate the length of the curves using the ruler tool and doing the math in my head haha. If you have access to Illustrator though it actually has a utility which lets you measure the length of curves! You just create a vector curve and then the length shows up in the properties somewhere. Forget exactly how to do it though.

haha I like the smooooch girl's counterparts in SDVX (Hina, Ao, and Momo), but yeah they're all cuties! if only I felt like making a human pattern I'm sure I would've made plushies of more of them (altho I think there were smoooooch plushies but whatever)

Aaaah so adorable!
I'm learning to make plush, so I might try and make a big smooooch plushie. As cute as the Pugyutto ones are they're too small for cuddles ;u; I hug stuffed toys to reduce my anxiety when I try to sleep, but I'm scared of damaging the Pugyutto plushes... I know the stitching and all is very strong but I still get worried.

This is all I have for BEMANI plushies, but I hope to get more!

haha yeah I understand, most commercial plushies in general are too small to hug ;_; I also used plushies as a way to relieve anxiety and stress, even to this day, so I'm all there with you! the mid-size ones are the best for hugging though. I'm confident you'll be able to do it though, just ask me if you have any questions

Thanks a bunch! Unfortunatley I'm currently closed for commissions, with an ETA of "whenever I feel like it". An average complexity medium size plush (i.e. around 14 inches or so) would probably be $180-220, although I tend to be pretty flexible with pricing.

Nah, there's lots of hobbyist artisans out there! There's nothing magical about how plushies are made, just some fabric, thread, and elbow grease. Well OK maybe it's a bit more complicated than that, but you get my point

I really hope that one day your Pokemon plush passion returns, you make better quality plush than the official companies! The details are so exact..I was shocked when I learned you made them! If One day a Pokemon commissions are open, I would like to challenge your skills to make a Sylveon -size of what it was in the anime- xD I feel like Sylveon is extremely difficult to make. Perhaps a challenge one day you would partake or commission on :3

Diffeomorphism In reply to ValoryPierce [2015-09-28 03:26:48 +0000 UTC]
Thanks a bunch for the compliments In regards to my enthusiasm towards Pokemon, that's ultimately up to the Pokemon Company to make games that excite me, because at this point, I'm kinda looking forward to the new Mystery Dungeon game, and that's about it.
As for the Sylveon plush, I have to admit, even if I was back into Pokemon again, I don't think I'd ever make one. Not because I dislike it (it's probably one of my personal favorite Eeveelutions) or because it's too challenging,Β but because I tend to focus on Pokemon which don't already have lots of plushies. I even put a clause in my Commissions journal which basically said I wasn't gonna make Eeveelutions So sadly you'll have to look elsewhere for a life-sized Sylveon. Thanks for your interest though
