Hello! I've been surfing through different art-based rp groups in dA and stumbled upon Lost Land. It seems like a great group and I'd be more than happy to join, but unfortunately I don't have the time for that right now ;; I'm also a stranger to English role-play groups and never played or wrote in English + I have no idea about the terms used in the English versions of the books (expect from the obvious like "fresh kill pile" since it's basically a straight translation from English to Finnish)
But a quick question tho -- how does art-based groups really work? I know you must do the application art and all, but aside from that, what other art does the player have to do? Do you get like ...points, or something, for doing extra art?? Sorry if I sound dumb, I'm just pretty lost on the whole idea of how art-based groups usually work!! Also a question about Lost Land - is it an online role-play? Like do the players have to be present at the same time? I'm trying to gather courage to join an English role-play group but I'm pretty scared that it might be a lot different from the Finnish ones ^^

Art-based role-play groups I'm not very familiar with to be honest. From what I've seen the moderators of the group set up a big event and you draw reactionary things for points and to show you're being active and staying up to date. Honestly, those types of groups are a LOT of effort since you are drawing really often. Art-based groups also usually have private role-plays that go on so characters can develop relationships with one another.
Lost Land is an online role-play group, the only art we require is when your cat goes up in ranks! We role-play on Discord now which is a completely free online service. Players do not have to present at the same time since we have people from pretty far off places. All over the US, Canada, the UK, I think one person is in Germany--time zones are something we cant help. Since we have people on at very different hours we have a rule that you cannot skip any players turn for 18 hours. This rule gives those in such different time zones plenty of time to hop on and be able to respond, even if they had to head off to bed and can't be on until morning!

Thank you for your answer, this cleared up a lot of things!! <33 nowadays I'm pretty busy with school so it's nice to know Lost Land doesn't require as much effort as art-based groups! maybe I'll try to join later when I have time (and when I've read the books in english...heh) I'll also make sure to pop on some day <3
